2016 Spring Training, March 8-10

I spent Tuesday and Wednesday at Bright House watching the Phillies beat Pittsburgh and Baltimore.  They are 7-3 with 2 ties (against Toronto and Detroit).  They also have 2 wins against the Yankees and a second win over the Pirates.  Time to upgrade those win predictions for 2016! Florida Instructional League – Game #8; 10/8/2015

The Phillies played the Yankees at Bright House Field on Thursday.  With Franklyn Kilome and Tyler Gilbert leading the way and a little offense for a change, today’s game was much easier to watch.  There were still some ineffective at bats, but a few hard hit balls lessened that concern a little.

Florida Instructional League – Game #1; 9/28/2015

The Phillies played their first Florida Instructional League (FIL) game Monday against the Blue Jays in Dunedin.  Because of a 70% chance of rain, I went over early and was able to watch Franklyn Kilome start the game at noon instead of the 1:00PM scheduled start time. Florida Instructional League; Intrasquad Game – 10/8/2014

Well, the Instructional League is winding down. Only a couple of scouts were on hand for the final intrasquad game on Wednesday. Two Phillies’ teams played six innings to a 2-1 conclusion. I don’t have velocities and didn’t bother to count pitches. Instead, here are a few observations. Continue reading Florida Instructional League; Intrasquad Game – 10/8/2014

Florida Instructional League Game #10; 10/3/2014

The Phillies’ game at the Englebert Complex was moved to the Blue Jays’ Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. The change in venue must have been unsettling as the Phillies lost 5-0 to the Blue Jays on Friday. The line up/box score – Continue reading Florida Instructional League Game #10; 10/3/2014

Phillies Close GCL Season With 3 Wins; August 28, 2014

The Phillies won their final three games, one against the Yankees1 team and two against the Pirates, but fell short on their goal of winning the division.  Today, Franklyn Kilome gave up a home run on the second pitch of the game then shut down the Pirates for five innings.  Tanner Kiest, Gregorio Santos, and Seranthony Dominguez each pitched a scoreless inning of relief before undrafted free agent Kyle Bogese added some drama in the ninth.  Jared Fisher came on to nail down his third save of the season in the 5-2 victory.
