I spent Tuesday and Wednesday at Bright House watching the Phillies beat Pittsburgh and Baltimore. They are 7-3 with 2 ties (against Toronto and Detroit). They also have 2 wins against the Yankees and a second win over the Pirates. Time to upgrade those win predictions for 2016! Continue reading 2016 Spring Training, March 8-10

Adonis Medina was selected the Readers’ Poll 17th prospect. He received 165 of 380 votes (43%). He was a runaway victor over second-place finisher Jimmy Cordero.

Florida Instructional League – Game #7; 10/7/2015
Wednesday the Phillies played the Blue Jays at Bright House Field. The comfortable surroundings made up a little for yet another game with no offense. The pattern of ineffectiveness is beginning to be a little concerning. The Phillies managed five hits, only one of which was hit hard – Greg Pickett’s line drive single in the ninth inning. The only other hard hit ball was a line drive off the bat of Juan Luis in the first inning that was speared by the second baseman.

Florida Instructional League; Intrasquad Game – 10/8/2014
Well, the Instructional League is winding down. Only a couple of scouts were on hand for the final intrasquad game on Wednesday. Two Phillies’ teams played six innings to a 2-1 conclusion. Florida Instructional League, Intrasquad Game – 10/1/2014
We’re at the tail end of the rainy season in Florida. Tuesday’s game was played at an earlier time and over before I got to the stadium. Today’s intrasquad game started at 1:00pm. Phils1 played Phils2. The game was called after 6 innings. Phils 2 made up an early 3-0 deficit to win 10-3. The pitching was a little sketchy, but some of the guys threw well. Ismael Cabrera started for Phils2 and Carlos Indriago started for Phils1. Each threw 2 innings. Continue reading Florida Instructional League, Intrasquad Game – 10/1/2014
Florida Instructional League – Adam Morgan Edition; 9/24/2014
In Florida, Wednesday is Camp Day. After morning workouts, the players head over to Bright House Field for an intrasquad game. Today, a little past 12:30pm, Adam Morgan started a game for the first time since he was shut down in 2013.
Intrasquad games are a pain to score. The line ups are fluid, innings can start with runners on base, innings can last more or less than 3 outs, and there are double the number of pitchers to chart. I can provide a lot of detail on Morgan and some sketchy highlights on the rest of the game. Continue reading Florida Instructional League – Adam Morgan Edition; 9/24/2014
