Clearwater pounded their way to an 8-2 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays Saturday night. The Threshers collected 14 hits, 5 for extra bases, in support of Brandon Leibrandt’s one-hit, nine strike out effort over six innings.

Monday afternoon, the Phillies played the Blue Jays at Bright House Field. The weather was as comfortable as we’ve seen down here in a while, and the game was among the best pitched so far this fall. The Phillies came back to win 2-1. The line up/box score/write up – Continue reading Florida Instructional League Game #12; 10/6/2014

We’re at the tail end of the rainy season in Florida. Tuesday’s game was played at an earlier time and over before I got to the stadium. Today’s intrasquad game started at 1:00pm. Phils1 played Phils2. The game was called after 6 innings. Phils 2 made up an early 3-0 deficit to win 10-3. The pitching was a little sketchy, but some of the guys threw well. Ismael Cabrera started for Phils2 and Carlos Indriago started for Phils1. Each threw 2 innings. Continue reading Florida Instructional League, Intrasquad Game – 10/1/2014
In Florida, Wednesday is Camp Day. After morning workouts, the players head over to Bright House Field for an intrasquad game. Today, a little past 12:30pm, Adam Morgan started a game for the first time since he was shut down in 2013.

The Phillies lost a “must” game to the Yankees, 7-2. Now, even if they win out, they need help from the Blue Jays to win or force a tie for the division.
Elniery Garcia started and battled with less than his best stuff. The Yankee batters were able to sit on his fast ball and make solid contact in a lot of their at bats. Even so, he kept the Phillies in the game and certianly deserved better defense than that played behind him today. My line for Garcia was 4.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K. However, I am not the official scorer and his actual line was – Continue reading GCL Phillies Drop 2 Games Back With 3 to Play; August 25, 2014
The Phillies topped the Jays 8-3 today. They remain 2 games behind the Yankees with 5 games remaining. They play the Yankees twice next week in games that will likely determine the division winner.
Sam McWilliams drew the start for the Phils. His fastball was 86-87 mph. He also had a change up at 82, slider at 78, and a slow curve at 68. He allowed single runs in each of the first two innings, and was pulled when he reahed his pitch count in the fourth inning. His pitching stats – Continue reading GCL Phillies Beat Jays, Josh Taylor Shines; August 22, 2014
