Full day at the Complex. Groups 3 and 4 squared off against the Braves and Group 5 faced SFWL (South Florida Winter League), a team comprised of players released by organizations (and managed by former MLB infielder Hal Lanier) but still hoping to keep their dreams alive. Their age range is 22-28 putting our kids at a slight disadvantage. Continue reading 2017 Spring Training, 3/21

After all, the Phillies posted a National League third best 15-11-3 record last spring and still managed to finish 20 games under .500 during the regular season. Continue reading Open Discussion: Week of March 13th

A few pitchers threw more than one inning – Jose Nin, Matt Hockenberry, and Miguel Nunez. Continue reading 2017 Spring Training, 3/11

No report on the 8th. I was at the Complex, but I didn’t take any video and only made a few observations, so I saved them for today. I gave a detailed account of the activities the players perform at each of their stations. I saw that I missed two. Position players spend rotation in the indoor batting cages. And, pitchers rotate into the weight room. Continue reading 2017 Spring Training, 3/9
