The Phillies had four picks in the 2020 Amateur Draft.  The Phillies selected Mick Abel with their first round pick last Wednesday night.

When the draft resumed on Thursday, they completed their draft with Casey Martin in the third round, Carson Ragsdale in the fourth, and Baron Radcliffe in the fifth.  The Phillies lost their second round pick for signing free agent Zach Wheeler during the off season.

This year’s annual draft of amateur players will take place this week on June 10th and 11th.  Those aspiring to a career as a major league baseball player have long looked forward to this ritual, this baseball right of passage.  Even if a player went undrafted, he could still look forward to the possibility of being signed in the days following the draft.  But, this year MLB has found reason to shorten the draft and restrict the signing of non-drafted free agents. The 2019 Draft Tracker is up to date.  All signings and bonuses that have been reported have been recorded.

The Phillies have signed 34 of their 39 draft picks.  With this week’s signing of #1 Bryson Stott, they have signed all nine of their picks in the first ten rounds.  They forfeited their #2 pick when they signed Bryce Harper (who had declined his former team’s qualifying offer). The Phillies completed their portion of the 2019 Amateur Draft with 30 selections Wednesday, representing rounds 11 thru forty.
