I gathered some selection and bonus information for the six drafts I tracked for Phuture Phillies. Rather than toss it, I’m sharing it here.
The drafts start with 2015 and run through this year. I’ve included the number of top ten picks, who our first round pick was (this is a reference point for me, hopefully not a discussion on the merits of the picks), the total number of picks, the total number signed and not signed. Update – June 25, 2020: Phillies announce signing of second round pick SS Casey Maryin for $1.3M, well above $689,300 slot for 3/87 pick. Signing amount takes the Phillies above their bonus allotment, but stays under the 5% penalty, leaving $16,410 in the pot.

Update – June 24, 2020: Phillies’ first rounder prep RHP Mick Abel signed for $4,075,000. That is slightly over the slot of $3,885,800. All four Phillies’ draft picks have signed, although third rounder Casey Martin’s bonus has not been made public, yet.

The Phillies lost their second round pick for signing free agent Zach Wheeler during the off season.

This year’s annual draft of amateur players will take place this week on June 10th and 11th. Those aspiring to a career as a major league baseball player have long looked forward to this ritual, this baseball right of passage. Even if a player went undrafted, he could still look forward to the possibility of being signed in the days following the draft.
