Box Score Recap – 7/24/2016

The organization’s top five affiliated teams played and won on Sunday.  The day’s best performances included David Buchanan’s four-hit, shutout over 6.1 innings for Lehigh Valley.  Darin Ruf hit 2 home runs.

Anthony Vasquez pitched a complete game for Reading.  Andrew Pullin had 3 hits, Jake Fox hit a home run.

Austin Bossart paced Clearwater early, driving in his first three Threshers’ runs of season. Zach Green contributed a two-run homer run.

In Lakewood, Grenny Cumana’s 4 hits led their 14-hit attack.  “C” Randolph had 3 RBI.

Williamsport’s JoJo Romero tossed shutout innings, Luis Encarnacion hit a home run, and Arquimedes Gamboa drove in the game-winning, walk off run. Continue reading Box Score Recap – 7/24/2016

Box Score Recap – 7/23/2016

Today’s best performance was turned in by Sixto Sanchez for the GCL Phillies.  He one-hit the GCL Tigers in his six innings.  Video included below.

Lehigh Valley’s Nick Williams hit his 10th HR.

Reading’s Andrew Pullin  had a two-hit game.

In Clearwater, Mitch Walding had three hits. Derek Campbell hit his 9th HR.

Lakewood’s Tyler Gilbert allowed one run on four hits and no walks in six innings.

Box Score Recap – 7/22/2016

As though Dusty Wathan is trying to fuel the Gallo-Cozens debate from yesterday, Dylan Cozens started in center field for Reading and threw out a runner at home.

Cameron Perkins had 3 RBI for Lehigh Valley.

Rhys Hoskins and Andrew Pullin homered for Reading.

Drew Anderson battled through some difficuties and posted a combined 3-hit shutout in a 6-inning game in Clearwater.

Jose Pujols hit his 18th HR for Lakewood.

Williamsport’s Adonis Median shutdown Batavia on three hits through six innings. Arquimedes Gamboa hit his 2nd HR in support.

Box Score Recap – 7/21/2016

Will Morris teased Threshers’ fans with a perfect game into the sixth inning.  He walked two batters with two out in the inning and took his no-no into the seventh.  A one-out HR ended both the no-hitter and the shutout.  He completed the inning and turned the final two innings over to the bullpen. He finished with a combined two-hitter.

Bailey Falter tossed six shutout innings for Williamsport.  He struck out ten and walked one, but didn’t figure in the decision.

Offensively, Rhys hit another home run, his 27th.

Here is the guaranteed, 100% accurate Box Score Report.  It took me less than 10 minutes from scratch.  I would love to only have to invest that much time on this, especially on days like today when I’ll be up early to prepare to be a guest on an affiliated beat writer’s podcast at 10:00AM, watch the GCL game from noon to 3:00PM, arrive at Bright House Field at 6:00PM to watch the Threshers until completion around 9:30PM, and then go home and produce the normal Box Score Report.  Note that those date stamps on reports of 2:00AM to 3:00AM are CST, probably where the WordPress server is located.  So, I’m actually posting an hour later in EST.   Continue reading Box Score Recap – 7/20/2016

Box Score Recap – 7/19/2016

Tuesday’s highlights included Lehigh Valley’s David Buchanan coming within one batter of a complete game shutout, Reading’s Dylan Cozens two-hit, two-RBI game, and Mitch Walding’s three-hit, three-RBI game.  Walding’s three RBI all came with two outs on three different occasions.

Nick Fanti tossed five no-hit innings, striking out ten.  Sixto Sanchez had pitched three no-hit innings before the game was suspended on Monday.  A third pitcher lost the no-hitter and the shutout in the ninth inning.  Loads of photos and video from the GCL game in the report below.

And down in the Dominican Summer League, Oscar Marcelino pitched two-hit ball for six innings, and Jesus De Los Santos six hits in seven innings.

Box Score Recap – 7/18/2016

In Reading, Andrew Pullin had 4 RBI and Dylan Cozens had five for Reading’s victory.  In Clearwater, Chace Numata had 3 hits.  In Lakewood, Zachary Coppola went 2-3, twice. Arquimedes Gamboa had 4 hits in Williamsport.  Mark Laird had three.

Aaron Altherr batted in the GCL game in Lakeland.  Then played left field for the Threshers in Bradenton after the Phillies reassigned him for his continuing rehab.

Box Score Recap – 7/17/2016

The best pitched game in the organization today came from JoJo Romero and Cole Irvin of the Williamsport Crosscutters.  Overall, the best pitched games were thrown at Lehigh Valley and Reading by Buffalo and Trenton.  The opposing pitchers of those teams held both teams to a combined one run and eight hits. Box Score Recap – 7/16/2016

All of the teams in the organization that played today, won today.  There were a few more solid pitching performances turned in.  Tom Eshelman and three relievers tossed a three hitter, retiring the final 15 batters in a row.  Tyler Gilbert and Sutter McLoughlin pitched a nine-hit, no walk shutout.  And Drew Anderson followed up his combined no-hitter with one run in five innings, allowing four hits and walking none.
