Box Score Recap – 7/13/2016

Another short schedule with AAA and AA having their all star games last night.  Elniery Garcia combined with Victor Arano to one-hit the Palm Beach Cardinals.  Garcia allowed one hit in eight innings.  Franklyn Kilome pitched well for Lakewood.  Nick Fanti pitched well for the GCL Phillies. Short schedule last night.  The top three levels in the organization did not play.  Lakewood and Williamsport got wins.  “C” Randolph got his first hits since returning to Lakewood.  Tom Windle made a rehab appearance.  And, Kyle Young made his GCL debut. Box Score Recap – 7/11/2016

Three teams had off.  Two played double headers.  Brandon Leibrandt took the mound in a GCL rehab assignment (video below).  Aaron Altherr continued his rehab in the GCL (video below).  Jimmy Cordero was moved up to Clearwater to continue his rehab.  With Reading off, Derek Campbell supplied the power homering twice for the Threshers.  Jhailyn Ortiz hit his 4th in the GCL Phillies morning game.  Cole Stobbe had 3 hits and Josh Stephen had two hits

Box Score Recap – 7/10/2016

Drew Anderson made his Clearwater debut a memorable one.  He threw the first four inning leg of a combined no-hitter against the St. Lucie Mets, the Florida State League’s top hitting team.  The Mets couldn’t stop Anderson, but the weather could.  After a 45-minute lightning delay, he was lifted in favor of Will Morris who pitched the second, four inning leg. The pitching change didn’t help St. Lucie as Morris continued to retire Mets’ batters. Victor Arano brought home the final leg of the combined no-hitter, nailing down the ninth. Box Score Recap – 7/8/2016

Lehigh Valley (51-38)  Beat Rochester, 3-1.  Ben Lively (4-2, 3.45) tossed six shutout innings to register his first victory since June 11th.  He allowed five hits and struck out four. Edward Mujica (3.69) gave up a solo HR while recording his 23rd save.  Darin Ruf (.287) had 3 hits.  Brock Stassi had 2 hits and and RBI (32).  Darnell Sweeney hit his 5th HR. Box Score Recap – 7/7/2016

Lots of excitement in the GCL.  Mickey Moniak hit his first professional home run on the road in Lakeland.  Jhailyn Ortiz hit his third home run in four games.  Cole Stobbe got his first and second professional hits.  Ben Pelletier, playing in his first professional game, got his first hit AND scored 3 runs.  Moniak had a 4-RBI game.  Non-drafted free agent, Evan Rogers, hit his first professional home run, went 3-4, and had 6 RBI.  Ortiz had a 3-RBI game. Box Score Recap – 7/6/2016

Mickey Moniak was not in the GCL line up today.  Nor did I see him around the Complex. However, Ray Burris was on an adjacent field watching Tom Windle throw a live batting practice.  Windle was recently placed on the DL with an ankle sprain.  The two batters he faced were Aaron Altherr and Mark Laird.  Both hitters are working their way through their on rehabs. It appears that the Phillies may be finished signing 2016 draft picks.  Todd Zolecki reported that “The Phillies have signed 29 of 40 players selected in the 2016 Draft.
