Phillies Affiliates’ Recap (8/8/2021)

Not so clever today.  Everybody lost again.  Lehigh Valley’s pitchers got pounded again after Adonis Medina was perfect for the first three innings.  Reading managed to score a run but lost by one again.  Jersey Shore was suspended in the top of the third tied.  Clearwater’s kids lost by two touchdowns.  The FCL Phillies and the DSL teams are not scheduled to play on Sundays.  Continue reading Phillies Affiliates’ Recap (8/8/2021)

Phillies Affiliates’ Recap (8/7/2021)

Everybody lost, but who cares?  The Phillies beat the Mets again!  Well, we care.  About both.  Lehigh Valley’s pitchers just got pounded.  Reading was shut out on 3 hits and lost by one.  Jersey Shore lost by two.  Clearwater’s kids dropped two, getting one-hit in the first game.  The FCL Phillies were cancelled.  And, the DSL Phillies tried to play two against each other.  White won the suspended game and the second game was suspended. Phillies Affiliates’ Recap (8/6/2021)

Lehigh Valley won a game in OT that they had in hand earlier.  Reading won but new guy Crouse didn’t figure in the decision, though he pitched well.  Jersey Shore was shut out, bu Seranthony Dominguez pitched an inning.  Clearwater’s kids were bested.  The FCL Phillies were scheduled off.  And, the DSL teams split, again. Phillies Affiliates’ Recap (8/4/2021)

Everybody who played won last night.  And, they all held their opponents to one run each and 15 collective hits.  Lehigh Valley won easily.  Reading victory was a little less secure but almost as easy.  And, Jersey Shore came from behind to post a one-run win.  Clearwater was rained out.  The FCL Phillies were cancelled again due to COVID.  And, the DSL doesn’t schedule games on Wednesday. Phillies Affiliates’ Recap (8/3/2021)

Lehigh Valley won.  Reading and Jersey Shore lost.  The DSL teams won.  And, Clearwater and the FCL Phillies had their games cancelled by COVID.

The Threshers were ravaged by COVID.  More than half of their active roster tested positive.  Fourteen players were added to the IL.  Sixteen players were reassigned from the FCL (10), activated from the IL (1), activated draft picks (3), and activated NDFAs (2).  That leaves 24 draftees and NDFAs unassigned.  Not every player listed in a transaction has tested positive for COVID. 2021 Post Draft Discussion; August 1st

The Phillies have signed 19 of their 20 picks from the 2021 Amateur Draft and 10 non-drafter free agents.  They added  #16 RHP Ty Collins to the fold on Sunday.  They have not signed their #19 selection.  The signing bonuses for the 19 have been published.  By my calculations, they spent over their draft allotment, but within the 5% overage that carries no penalty.  They left a little over $34K on the table.  The total spent on drafted and non-drafted players is a little over $9.5 million.
