Spring Training at Spectrum Field, Mar. 27, 2018

The Phillies played their last Grapefruit League yesterday.  It was notable since Jake Arrieta was scheduled to start.  As a Threshers’ season ticket holder, I got a free ticket to the game. So, with tickets furnished by a friend, I took my grand kids to the game. Continue reading Spring Training at Spectrum Field, Mar. 27, 2018

Spring Training at the Complex, Mar. 26, 2018

The Phillies AAA and AA squads played the Yankees at the Complex today.  Sort of.  With a lot of minor league players making the bus trip to Bradenton (9 position players and 8 pitchers), there were some interesting entries on the line up cards.  For instance, the AAA outfield consisted of Damek Tomscha in left, Dylan Cozens in center, and Luke Williams in right.  And, Jesus Henriquez played second base. 2018 Break Out Prospects

Spring Training at the Complex, Mar. 18-22, 2018

Jake Arrieta pitched today in a Grapefruit League game.  He threw two innings and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits including a HR and struck out two.  He didn’t walk or hit anyone.  His fastball sat 93 mph, touching 95, his curve was 81-83, and his slider was 87–89. Spring Training at the Complex, Mar. 17, 2018

The Saint Patrick’s Day Game.  Always a big draw at Spectrum Field.  I arrived at the Complex at 8:45 AM in anticipation of a late change regarding Jake Arrieta.  His scheduled appearance in a minor league game was moved to an earlier simulated game.  No telling what time that would be held.
