2018 Draft Discussion: April 30th

One of the big scouting opportunities this weekend was undoubtedly the Auburn/Florida game Friday night in Gainesville.  I’m sure the Phillies were well represented at the game.

Box Score Recap – 4/29/2018

Four games.  Four wins.  Four shutouts.

Lehigh Valley swept Scranton behind shutout pitching by Enyel De Los Santos and Pedro Beato in the opener; and the bullpen in the second game (Brandon Leibrandt, Seranthony Dominguez, Austin Davis, and Tom Windle.

Reading was postponed, again.

Clearwater beat Dunedin behind a combined one-hitter by Bailey Falter, Alexis Rivero, and Aaron Brown.  Darick Hall’s eighth home run provided the winning margin.

Lakewood beat Kannapols behind David Parkinson’s solid start, and some scrambling by Zach Warren, Julian Garcia, and Kyle Dohy.  Danny Mayer’s first home run of the season provided all the offense as the BlueClaws managed just two hits.

Box Score Recap – 4/28/2018

Lehigh Valley and Reading saw their games postponed due to rain and wet grounds.

Clearwater beat Dunedin behind Sixto Sanchez.  Austin Listi homered in the game.

Lakewood fell behind Kannapolis early but battled back to tie the game on HRs by Josh Stephen and Rodolfo Duran and eventually won in eleven innings.

Box Score Recap – 4/26/2018

There were only two games last night.

Clearwater blew an early lead, rallied to tie, but lost playing out the new tie-breaker. Lakewood won behind six, two-hit, shutout innings from Spencer Howard.

I spent the day watching parts of the three games at the Complex and the Threshers game in Dunedin as a night cap.  I arrived home tired.  So,here’s a condensed version of the Box Score Report.  This does not bode well for the start of the GCL season.

Box Score Recap – 4/25/2018

Lehigh Valley split a double header.  Mitch Walding had a big game in the win.

Reading beat Akron.  Three relievers held down the fort over the final six innings.

Clearwater beat Fort Myers.  Adam Haseley had 2 doubles and 3 RBI.

Lakewood swept Hagerstown.  Ramon Rosso and Will Stewart each pitched six solid innings.

2018 Draft Discussion: April 23rd

The Phillies have the third overall selection in the first round.  They forfeited their second and third round picks when they signed free agents Carlos Santana and Jake Arrieta.
