Phuture Phillies 2018 Reader Top 30 Poll for the Phillies #2 Prospect

Sixto Sanchez was your selection as the #1 prospect in the Phillies’ organization.

For the first time since 2015, the Phuture Phillies top prospect will be some one other than J.P. Crawford.  Sanchez received 105 of 254 votes cast (41%).  Scott Kingery (70 votes, 28%) and Crawford (68, 27%) finished second and third.  Seven other players shared eleven votes. Phuture Phillies 2018 Reader Top 30 Poll for the Phillies #1 Prospect

Welcome to the 2018 Reader Top 30!

Well, here we go.  This should take us through the end of January.  A short two weeks later, pitchers and catchers can report on February 13th and have their first work out the following day, signalling the start of spring training.  The first full squad work out is just a couple days later.  Just 50 or so days to go. 2018 Phuture Phillies Reader Top 30 Poll

Time to get ready for the 2018 Reader Top 30 Prospect Poll.  I will start polling in a week or so, and plan on posting a poll each weekday.  We will continue to follow baseball’s standards for prospect lists which states –

“To be eligible for a list, a player must have rookie eligibility. To qualify for rookie status, a player must not have exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues, or accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the 25-player limit period, excluding time on the disabled list or in military service.”

“The rankings follow the guidelines laid out by the new Collective Bargaining Agreement in terms of who falls under the international pool money rules: Players who are at least 23 years old and played in leagues deemed to be professional (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Cuba) are not eligible.” Continue reading 2018 Phuture Phillies Reader Top 30 Poll

2017 Phuture Phillies Post Season Prospect Poll Results

The first Phuture Phillies post season prospect poll ended.  The criteria was as diverse as the responses I received.  Readers were asked to provide their prospect lists based on the player’s present value to the organization, their major league potential, their professional ceiling, their age at their current level, or whatever criteria you feel is important.  I received 43 prospect lists. Sixto Sanchez was selected the Best Right-Handed Starting Pitcher in the Phillies minor league system by Phuture Phillies readers.  Franklyn Kilome finished second, Tom Eshelman third, and Adonis Medina fourth rounding out the group of pitchers who received at least 10% of the vote. JoJo Romero was selected the Best Left-Handed Starting Pitcher by Phuture Phillies readers.  Ranger Suarez finished second.  Kyle Young and Nick Fanti finished in a close race for third.  Cole Irvin rounded out the top five, all of whom finished with over 10% of the votes. The winner of the Best Center Fielder Poll was Adam Haseley.  He had a considerable lead over runner-up Roman Quinn who had a small lead over Mickey Moniak.  Carlos Tocci was the only other player to receive a substantial amount of votes.
