I guess we are all use to ignoring Reading stats at this point as seeing the true story in LVH AAA
I was reading an article that suggested Grullon as a possible bench bat for the phils in September when the rosters expand and at first I was taken aback because I had not even considered that but if you think about it, its not a terrible idea. Hed play extremely sparingly but the dudes power is real.
Prospect fatigue plus he never had a real breakout offensively until this year. He was always supposed to be a defense first guy anyway. I get the impression that he, like Alfaro, lacks some polish on the defensive side but has clear tools.
but i think Grullon is having a great season away from the reading stadium. Yes? No?. i wouldn’t overlook him too much.

That’s pretty interesting. I remember looking at the split a while back and he showed a huge home field advantage. This is good to see, with LHV being a real test.

Watched the Pigs the other night and Gary Jones really could use a legitimate catcher.
Rickles is hurt and Matt McBride just is not a catcher.
Moore is a good defensively ut lack the bat.
In Reading Bossart is still there for Gregg legg…..and promotive the veteran Lino or even Lartigue to man the second slot.
Grullon would do well for his development to start to see AAA pitching now.
Watched Grullon catch Saturday night and I wasn’t impressed. He double pumped on one steal attempt allowing the runner to get in. Then separately and with fewer than 2 outs, with a runner moving, on ball four, Grullon air mailed a throw to second which allowed the runner to get to 3rd on the overthrow from where he ultimately scored. Catchers routinely scale back since there was no play with the runner entitled to second. Baseball is a game of instant reaction and it was surprising to see this happen at the AA level.
So assume you feel he is just not a prospect worth getting enthused on?
I can’t assess that from watching Grullon behind the plate on Saturday and as a DH on Sunday. He’s young and not a finished product.
I was responding to thoughts he should be promoted, perhaps could contribute to the big team in September. If I were looking for a surprise September call-up, I’d rate Grullon behind Meneses, Hasely and even Pujols cause you could stick any of those 3 in the field, whereas Grullon would get abused at the MLB level at this stage of his development.

The only promotion i would suggest would be to triple A so he can further develop.
I do not think he is ready for the major leagues.
But watching some of him this year…..little surprised the Phillies are not putting him on a nutritional diet of some sort.
His waist line seems a little larger than i would expect for a 22-year old.
MM didnt play but I would love to see him use these last few weeks of the season to get that OBP to .300
He’s had a solid second half and that would really help build some momentum going in to next year.
Should have added this – I found it interesting that he is hitting .295 at home with a .328 OBP and a .765 OPS. Is there a “reading factor” at the park they play at?
I am naive for thinking this kid can still be a solid contributor some day?

Yeah, I think so. We all should keep in mind how young these guys are (both Moniak and C. Randolph), just 20. I know exciting elite prospects often dominate lower levels but there has been just as many ‘steady as she goes’ and/or late bloomers who need time. I think Moniak is that; I have my doubts about Randolph, FWIW.
Any updates on Sixto? Haven’t heard anything.
According to Joe Jordan, Sixto is expected to be pitching later this month.
