Open Discussion: Week of August 27th

The Phillies were on their way to another horrendous week, losing 3 of 4 to Marlins.  But, as so often happens in the baseball world, we learned why you must play the games.  The Phillies won 2 of 3 games and salvaged the week with a 3-4 record.  And, although the Cubs outscored the Phillies 21-15 on the strength of a 17-2 rout in the middle game of the set, the Phillies easily handled the Cubs in 7-1 and 6-3 victories.   They have a 48-81 record and a .372 PCT.   Continue reading Open Discussion: Week of August 27th

Reading Eagle End of Season Prospect Poll, 2017

Over the past weekend, Mike Drago of the Reading Eagle published his yearly prospect survey (The Reading Eagle is a subscription site).  Mike requested input from about two dozen industry people who watch or cover a fair amount of games and players among the Phillies’ affiliates.  He received 17 responses and used a weighted scoring system to determine a player’s perceived value (first-place votes earning 30 points, second place 29 points, etc.).   I was one of the 17 respondents.
