Hooray! The off season has come to an end with the official start of spring training – which we simply refer to as Pitchers and Catchers. This is the day all baseball fans look forward to once their team plays it’s last game of the season. Phillies’ pitchers and catchers reported for physicals yesterday and began their workouts today on Schmidt Field at the Carpenter Complex (officially the Paul Owens Training Facility at the Carpenter Complex). Clearwater Update #5 (2/10/17)
Spring training coverage starts Tuesday when catchers and pitchers take to the fields. The truck from CBP arrived this morning and was emptied and gone by the time I arrived at 9:30 AM. The players went through their calisthenics and stretching exercises before breaking out to their different groups. The featured photo shows the sheer volume of players who showed up early. Pitchers and catchers headed to the Seven Mounds. Several pitchers threw today. First basemen took ground balls, and outfielders shagged flies.
New faces include Cord Sandberg, Chris Coghlan, and Cameron Rupp. Continue reading Clearwater Update #5 (2/10/17)

Clearwater Update #3 (2/8/17)
Spring training coverage starts next week. But, I went over to the Complex just to see what was going on. Tuesday night we got heavy rain into the early morning. It was still raining at 5:00 AM. I wasn’t sure what if any thing would transpire today. But, maybe I could identify a few more players. I’m always interested in who shows up early since the players do it on their own dime.
