‘Pigs Prospects–Cesar Hernendez–Has hit safely in 8 of 11 games, with multi hit efforts in 7 of those game. Solid in the field, and currently hitting .370.
Darin Ruf–A slow start out of the gate power wise, but Ruf has been consistent, hitting safely in 10 of his first 11 games (.279), with 6 RBI’s. He struggled in LF the first couple of games, but has made several outstanding plays more recently.
Leandro Castro–is 3-21 in his last 5 games after starting the year 8-16. Certainly an energetic player, my mind on Castro as a prospect is not made up yet.
Jon Pettibone–Has looked very rusty in his two starts, with a 9.64 ERA and 15 hits allowed in 9.1 innings of work. Early on his WHIP stands at 2.14.
Justin DeFratus–Has thrown very well, pitching in 4 games (5.1IP) without yielding an earned run. Additionally, his control has been stellar, walking none and striking out 4. Still early, but I see him as the first guy to Philly.
Tyler CLoyd–Two rough starts, followed by a decent outing on Monday for CLoyd, who is 0-2 with a 7.07ERA and a .322 opponents batting average early on. Without overpowering stuff, when his command is even a little bit off, unfortunately this is an example of the results. He has walked an uncharacterisitic 8 hitters in 14 IP.
Next week: Diekman, Stutes, Morgan, Martin, Joseph, Asche and Gillies.
Notes: Josh Fields had a monster game on Monday vs. Pawtucket, going 4-4 with 2HR, 4RBI’s and a SB.
–Joe Savery is unscored upon in 4 games this season, throwing shutout innings, walking none and striking out 9.
–Adam Morgan won the IL Pitcher of the Week award for the week ending April 14th. He has currently thrown 11 consecutive scoreless innings
Transactions: Pitcher Tom Cochran was activated from the disabled list and assigned to Reading, replacing Austin Wright in the rotation. Wright was placed on the DL with elbow tendonitis.
