The Lakewood BlueClaws won the first game in the SAL championship series last night behind a superior effort by Franklyn Kilome.  The lanky, right-hander was perfect for four innings and was barely tested.

Box Score Recap; Post Season – 9/10/2016

… and then there was one.

Reading’s playoff run came to an end last night in a 3-2 loss at home to Trenton.  That leaves only one team from the organization alive in the post season, the Lakewood BlueClaws.

With our teams having been eliminated by teams affiliated with the Cardinals and Yankees, Lakewood will continue their playoff run against the Rome Braves, the Class A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.  They begin the championship series on Monday on the road. Box Score Recap; Post Season – 9/9/2016

The organization’s three teams that remained active in the post season were in action Friday night.  One advanced to the next round, one remained alive in their current series, and one was eliminated.

Lehigh Valley was unable to extend their season and were routed at home.

Reading returned home and their offense came alive as they forced a fourth game.

Box Score Recap; Post Season – 9/8/2016

The top two teams in the organization played and lost Thursday night.  Both are now on the verge of elimination.  Lehigh Valley must sweep on the road, Reading must do the same at home.

Lehigh has yet to score in the playoff series. Their pitching in game two was not as good as that in game one.

Reading is suffering from a power outage.  They have 17 hits in their two games but most of them are singles and they are not hitting when they have runners in scoring position.

Box Score Recap; Post Season – 9/7/2016

Tough day for the organization’s teams in their playoff games.

Lakewood posted the only win.  Alberto Tirado reverted back to his old self a little but limited the damage to a single run.  The BlueClaws mounted a 12-hit attack to beat Hagerstown at home.

Lehigh and Reading both lost behind pretty decent pitching from Ben Lively and Mark Leiter.  Lehigh was shut out, and Reading was held to two runs.

And, the GCL Phillies lost the deciding game of the GCL championship series.  kyle Young provided another outstanding start for the organization today.   Continue reading Box Score Recap; Post Season – 9/7/2016

Box Score Recap; Post Season – 9/6/2016

The GCL Phillies played and won the second game of the GCL Championship series.  It was an exciting game that saw sloppy fielding gift the GCL Cardinals two unearned runs in the top of the first inning.  The Phillies stranded runners early, but finally broke through in the fifth inning to take the lead.  They held on and survived a Cardinals’ rally in the ninth to claim victory, tie the series, and force a deciding game. Box Score Recap – 9/5/2016

The regular season ended with Lehigh Valley, Reading, and Lakewood securing wins. Williamsport lost its final game.  And the GCL Phillies dropped the first game of their three-game final series to the Cardinals.

David Buchanan (LHV) and Harold Arauz (LAK) closed out the regular season with stellar pitching efforts.  Reading’s bash brothers hit tenth inning home runs to secure the Phils’ win.  But, of course, how else would their regular season end. Continue reading Box Score Recap – 9/5/2016

Box Score Recap – 9/4/2016

Lehigh Valley lost but Phil Klein pitched well again.

Reading was two-hit.

Clearwater won at Dunedin.

Lakewood won as Franklyn Kilome pitched up to everyone’s expectations Sunday.

Williamsport dropped a close one.

Box Score Recap – 9/3/2016

Lehigh Valley won behind Nick Pivetta’s five-inning, three-hit, shutout.  Home runs by J.P. Crawford, Jesse Valentin, Cody Asche, and Cedric Hunter paved the way.

Reading clinched the division.  Dylan Cozens hit his record-setting 39th home run.

Clearwater’s post season hopes fizzled in a loss to Dunedin despite a go-ahead home run by Jiandido Tromp in the bottom of the eighth.

Lakewood won behind Jose Taveras’ six-inning one-hitter.

Williamsport’s  Ranger Suarez pitched a two-hit shutout into the sixth inning, and Will Hibbs allowed one hit the rest of the way in the Crosscutters’ win.
