Lehigh Valley Weekly Report

Lehigh Valley split their doubleheader last night in Scranton and have won five of their last seven games.  Sitting at 60-73 and in 4th place of the Northern Division of the International League, the ‘Pigs are 14 games back of divison leading Scranton and have been eliminated from playoff contention.  After a final game in Scranton tonight, the ‘Pigs travel to Syracuse for three games and Pawtucket for three before a final four game home stand over Labor Day weekend to end the season. This will be the last “in season” Lehigh Valley weekly report.  Look for a report reviewing the season between September 8th and 10th.

News and Notes: INF Chase D’Arnaud has hit safely in his last 9 games (.368) and is batting .306 over his last 46 games.  He has been an offensive catalyst for Lehigh Valley in the second half of the season and leads the team with 38 multi hit games.

–Over the last 22 games, OF Brian Bogusevic is hitting .368 with 6HR and 18RBI to go along with 5SB.  Absent one down period, Bogusevic has been consistently outstanding this season.

–1B Tommy Joseph has a modest 4 game hitting streak after early struggles coming off the DL.

–Over his last 3 starts, Severino Gonzalez has a 2.81ERA.

–Since being optioned from Philadelphia three weeks ago, OF Jordan Danks is hitting .333 in 16 games.

–The ‘Pigs continue to lead the league in caught stealing % at 37.2%.  Catchers have done an outstanding job.

–Over his last 13 games played, C Logan Moore is hitting .370.  Defense is his string suit, so modest production with the stick may lead to an opportunity as a major league back up.

–Over his last 7 starts between the Rangers and Phils organizations, Alec Asher has 6 quality starts and is 3-1 with a 2.45ERA. He will be called up to start on Sunday by the Phillies.

–In his last 16 games, OF Kelly Dugan has hit .182 (10-55).  He has shown very little since joining Lehigh Valley last month.

–Over his last 24 games, C Gabrial Lino is hitting .149, dropping to .220 in AAA from .291

–Jesse Biddle has been just awful as of late, going 0-4 with an 8.03ERA in his last 5 starts. During that time period, he has allowed 44 hits in 24.2IP.

–Acquired off waivers from Boston, RP Dalier Hinojosa has been getting lit up as of late, giving up 7ER in his last 4 relief appearances.

–RP Colton Murray has turned his season around, sporting a 1.30ERA in his last 19 games between Reading and Lehigh Valley.  In 34.2 innings during that time period he has walked just 6 and struck out 28.  Command had been his primary issue holding him back.
