Another split last night. We played four games and won two. The wins came from the two lower-level teams. Clearwater waited out the opposition and drew 16 walks while their pitchers issued none. June 1st. We played four games and split, 2 wind and 2 losses. The wins came from the top and bottom of the organizational ladder. Clearwater won in extra innings in a game that showcased some fine pitching from both teams. Lehigh Valley won against its arch-rival. Reading lost, again, their fourth consecutive loss. Slow day after Saturday’s seven games. Another losing day, one win, 2 losses, and a postponement. Clearwater and Jupiter pitched shutout ball through nine innings, then the teams combine for 5 runs in the Threshers’ overtime victory. Lehigh Valley lost a rain-shortened, six-inning game. Three games were rained out last night. Clearwater’s wasn’t as they lost their fourth straight game, all to the Jupiter Hammerheads, the Miami Marlins affiliate. Lehigh Valley, Reading, and Jersey City were all rained out. All will be made up as seven-inning doubleheaders Saturday. (We have company arriving Saturday. There were five games last night thanks to a doubleheader in Reading. Our guys went 1-4. Clearwater failed to score another ghost runner and lost a well-pitched game. Lehigh Valley fell behind and never recovered. Reading split and produced the organization’s only minor league win. And, Jersey Shore rallied but couldn’t completely overcome an early, large deficit. A postponement due to rain shortened the affiliated schedule to 3 games. Our guys went 2-1 with some very exciting endings. Clearwater failed to score the ghost runner twice and lost in eleven. Lehigh Valley took a no-hitter into the ninth before closing out a one-hitter. Reading was the rain out. And, Jersey Shore came back to tie in the ninth and won on a slam in the tenth.
