Extended Spring Training is winding down. The Phillies break camp after their last game on Thursday June 15th. Some players will make their way to Williamsport for the June 19th start of the NY-Penn League. Others will prepare for the start of the GCL season on June 26th. Clearwater was held to Drew Stankiewicz’ solo HR and wasted Jose Taveras’ quality start.
Lakewood blew another late lead and fell short with their rally.

Lehigh Valley broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth and held on to win. Pat Venditte got his 6th win.
Reading walked off with a come-from-behind win in the ninth on Kyle Martin’s 11th HR.
Clearwater won on Jake Waguespack’s pitching and HRs by Cornelius Randolph (6), Jan Hernandez (9), and Herlis Rodriguez (7).
Lakewood lost when they gave up 4 runs in the eighth ining of a tie game.
Joely Rodriguez was DFA’d, and the newest Phillie is … Casey Fien.

Lehigh Valley swept their double header with some good pitching and home runs by Hoskins, Cozens, and Williams.
Reading split their double header, winning the second game behind a solid effort by Mario Sanchez.
Clearwater was not scheduled, but remains a half game in front of Daytona with 11 games to play. In an odd scheduling quirk, the Threshers and Tortugas will not have faced each other at all in the first half. Would have liked to have seen Nick Senzel.
Lakewood’s bats came alive late to seal their victory .
Roman Quinn has sustained the season-inhibiting injury that all were afraid might happen. He was diagnosed with a UCL injury in his left elbow. After getting a second opinion, we can anticipate his addition to the DL for the 6th time since his 2013 season.
Joely Rodriguez was reported to be DFA’d late last night. A corresponding move can be expected tomorrow. Pat Venditte? Hoby Milner? Pedro Beato?

Open Discussion: Week of June 4th
The Phillies were 2-4 last week. They salvaged another bad week with two wins this weekend over the Giants. They still have the worst record in baseball, 19-35 with a .352 winning percentage.
The highlight of the week was Ben Lively’s one-run, seven inning performance Saturday night.
The Phillies have redone their web site. When I click on “sortable schedule” (to pull up the box scores for the previous week), I now get a ticket purchasing menu. Like, who would buy tickets to see this team. So, expect the Phillies info to drop off quite a bit at the top of these discussions. I’ve got nothing else.

Lehigh Valley gave up single runs in the eighth and ninth and lost their third game in the last four.
Reading held on to win their fifth game in the last six. Drew Anderson picked up his 4th win with a quality start.
Clearwater was rained out, two seven-inning games in a double header on Monday.
Lakewood and JoJo Romero won via shutout supported by home runs by Darick Hall (7) and Dave Martinelli (3).

Lehigh Valley won behind Mark Appel’s six innings and Jiandido Tromp’s 2 RBI.
Reading won on the strength of Nick Rickles 2 HR and 5 RBI.
Clearwater was paced by Jose Taveras’ 88-pitch, 9-inning, complete game.
Lakewood lost in a match up between Nick Fanti and Riley Pint. Neither starter figured in the decision.
