I hadn’t been able to make it to the XST games for a while. But, one of our readers, Mark Wylie, sent me a batch of photos from Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays at the Complex. Open Discussion: Week of May 22nd
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, “And another disappointing week”. The Phillies were swept by the Texas Rangers and lost 2 of 3 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They returned home with a 2-7 record on their road trip. During the past week, the Phillies scored 11 runs in their 5 losses. No surprise that their starting pitchers absorbed the loss in 4 of those 5 games. They return home to face the first place Colorado Rockies and the fading Cincinnati Reds.

Lehigh Valley rallied late (again) and held on to win, again.
Reading rallied late but fell short.
Clearwater blew a spectacular start by Jose Taveras and lost in eleven.
Lakewood pulled away and held on to win.

Lehigh Valley rallied in the ninth to tie and won on Nick Williams’ solo HR in the tenth.
Reading’s one-run rally in the ninth wasn’t nearly enough in a blowout loss.
Clearwater won the continuation of the suspended game with a ninth inning rally, and then won the night cap.
Lakewood won with a ninth inning rally.

Clearwater suspended in the third trailing 3-0, but at least Lakeland burned the league’s best pitcher before completion of the game in a double header Saturday..
Lakewood fell behind by two runs in the first inning and could only get one back..

Reading won their fifth consecutive game.
Clearwater was swept in a four game series, scoring 8 runs total, getting outscored 20-8.
Lakewood fell nine runs behind and couldn’t make it all the way back.
