8 thoughts on “Phillies’ Affiliates’ Recap (7/11/2021)

  1. Josh Stephen is going gangbusters hitting over .400 in past 55+ at bats. What is he doing different or better?

  2. Rojas keeps hitting well after a slow start and will likely earn himself a promotion if he keeps this up. I watched the game on Milb.tv and he nearly hit 2 homeruns today to add to the HRs from the last 2 days. Also, Lee Sang made 2 great diving catches in the outfield and this was just his second game with the Threshers. He got his first hit at this level and it was a big one as he drove in 2 runs against a really good pitcher, He went 1-3 today after going 0-4 in his debut but its really early to look at his batting average.. Wingrove charged the mound today and it was funny to see the pitcher run away from him. Fortunately no punches were thrown and everyone stayed safe.

  3. Hendrickson and Perkins have really elevated the starting pitching at Reading. We might have something with them. Also, Sanchez keeps hitting..

  4. Interesting year from our oft denigrated farm system. Luke Williams, Nick Maton, Matt Vierling called up and did not embarrass themselves. Other than Maton, none of these seemed likely to make the majors at all in 2019. Now Guthrie is looking good at AAA. Remember when he was drafted a number of evaluators thought that he had a chance at 1st Rd. prior to an injury. These guys may not ever be stars- or even starters- but they might comprise a very reasonably priced and reliable bench one day that keeps the budget controlled with all of the large obligations to the stars.

    1. Dalton Guthrie didn’t deserve to get promoted but he took advantage of the opportunity and he’s hitting better now than he did at any point in his minor league career. Can he keep this up? We’ll see but looks like he’s at Lehigh to stay.
