Mediocrity continues for the ‘Pigs who went 3-4 this week, including a 4-3 loss tonight, and now sit at 38-41 and in 5th place of the Northern Division of the International League, 10.5 games behind division leading Syracuse. After completing a short two day (3 game) road trip to Syracuse on Wednesday, Lehigh Valley returns home for 4 games (Rochester, Scranton) over the weekend.

‘Pigs prospects: Brad Lincoln has gone 3-0 with a 2.17ERA and an opposition average of .171 over his last 5 games and he looks primed for what appears to be a major league callup on Saturday when the Phils will need pitching help because of a double header. During the 5 game stretch, Lincoln had a 19 inning scoreless streak and won three consecutive starts.
Leandro Castro returned to the lineup last Sunday after missing several games with a back injury. He continues to lead the LV OF with 6 assists and is hitting .259 with 1HR and 9RBI since moving to the leadoff spot (20 games). Very importantly, Castro has drawn 20 walks this year in 68 games, compared to just 15 walks in 117 games last year

News and Notes: On Sunday, Luis Garcia allowed this first earned run against him in all of 2014 at AAA, a streak that spanned 21.1IP.
–Like Garcia, Cesar Jiminez had a scoreless inning streak snapped at 21IP, the 4th longest streak in Lehigh Valley history.
–The ‘Pigs are currently at their low water mark of the season, 10.5 games out of first.
–INF ANdreas Blanco has committed just 1 error this season in 40 games.
–Some good news on the Maikel Franco front…he currently leads all IL third baseman in fielding percentage at .979.
–In his last 4 starts, Chris Bootcheck is 0-4 with a 7.58ERA
–Barry Enright is 2nd in the league in HR allowed, and has allowed 6 in his last 5 starts which has helped cause his ERA to sky rocket over 5.

–On Sunday, Tyler CLoyd became the 9th former IronPig to beat his former team, going 7 innings and retiring the last 18 batters he faced.
Comings and Goings: Leaving the team this week was OF Tyson Gillies, who was released, C Cameron Rupp who was promoted to Philadelphia because of the injury to Wil Nieves, along with RP BJ Rosenberg, was was called up to Philadelphia. Joining the team was Ethan Martin who was optioned to Lehigh Valley from Philadelphia and Sebastian Valle who was promoted to Lehigh Valley to replace Rupp.
