As expected, follwing the Phils game against the Pirates yesterday, Infielders Wilson Valdez and Cody Ransom; Catcher Paul Hoover and OF DeWayne Wise, all were re-assigned to Lehigh Valley. Wise, did have an opt out clause in his contract but he chose he accept his assignment, leading to the re-assignment of Quintin Berry to Reading (AA).
Both 1B Tagg Bozied and INF Melvin Dorta were moved down to Reading from the Lehigh Valley roster.
This is the way it currently looks in Allentown: 1B Andy Tracy, 2B Luis Maza, SS Brian Bocock, SS Wilson Valdez, 3B Cody Ransom, 3B Neil Sellers OF’s: Rich Thompson, Chris Duffy, John Mayberry, DeWayne Wise, Catchers: Paul Hoover and Dane Sardinha.
Assuming Andrew Carpenter begins the season in the Phils bullpen, the rotation in Allentown appears to be: Bump, Savery, Mazone, Vogelsong and Duckworth. In the ‘Pigs bullpen are: Zagurski, Mathieson, Brian Gordon, Woods, Anderson, Concepcion, and Wasserman.
Anyone care to speculate what the final Reading roster will look like?

Bozied deserves better than AA. He’s good enough to play off a major league bench,

Surprised that Ramirez was sent to Clearwater to start the season. Flande was ineffective in too many games this spring but guess they wanted a lefty in the rotation.

Carlos Monasterios, the Rule 5 pick drafted away from the Phillies by the Mets and sold to the Dodgers, has made their opening day roster. A good article by Tony Jackson of ESPNLosAngeles.com is in the link.

Wrong already, seems Stutes looked at as closer, with Naylor starting and Ramirez to A(A). 3 more pitchers need to be mentioned from the article and the positions outside of Galvis, Berry, Brown, and Gillies.

I believe Fidel Hernandez was cut. Won’t Murphy be the starting 1B in Reading?

I think Stutes just pitched the 9th in the Phillies final exhibition game. Don’t look too much into that. He will be a reliever there but Rosenberg and Schwimer will be 8th and 9th inning guys. I thought Ramirez is a lock for Reading. Would like to see Murphy at 1b but Bozied and Susdorf will get the opportunity first.

Susdorf was listed as an outfielder on the minor league workgroup lists.

If Ruben learned anything from Eddie Wade, he’ll call up Duckworth sometime during the season to see if there’s any “magic” left in that golden right wing of his.

actually, the reading first baseman will most likely be kevin mahar or brian stavisky.

Reading has Pinckney, Mahar, Stavisky, Susdorf, and Bozied who can all play 1B and hit AA pitching. Interesting to see how they work that out…

I believe Stavisky was cut last week as well.

I wonder if Monasterios will really last all season with the Dodgers.

Any word on Keoni De Renne? I didn’t see him on any released lists or on the AA or AAA roster. I can’t imagine he’s going to Clearwater at his age.

Herndon gets to pitch the ninth. Meanwhile, Monasterios got into a game for the Dodgers.
