Casimiro Picks up Third Win as Threshers Sweep Daytona; April 21, 2016

The Threshers completed a three-game sweep of the Daytona Tortugas behind six shutout innings from Ranfi Casimro.  The right hander was lifted after a 24-pitch sixth inning.  Alexis Rivero and Victor Arano combined to complete the shutout over the last three innings.  The Threshers pushed across an unearned run on Kyle Martin’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth, just in time to make Casimiro the pitcher of record.  The win was Casimiro’s third in as many starts. Imhof Records First Win as Threshers Beat Daytona, 4-2; April 20, 2016

In game two of a three game series against Daytona, Matt Imhof shutout the Tortugas over six innings of one-hit ball.  Miguel Nunez was touched for a meaningless two-out, two-run home run in the ninth, but Imhof recorded his first win of the season. Threshers Drop Tough One to the Stone Crabs, 2-1; April 12, 2016

Will Morris made his Clearwater Threshers’ debut against the Charlotte Stone Crabs and Tampa Bay’s #2 prospect and MLB’s #42 prospect, RHP Brent Honeywell.  Morris accounted for himself well with 5.0 shutout innings.  Neither starter figured into the decision as both teams featured sharp pitching and improved defense.  The game swung on a passed ball in the eighth inning.  Nevertheless, Morris and bullpen mates Matt Hockenberry and Jesen Therrien pitched very well this evening. 2016 Spring Training, March 21st

The Phillies traveled to Lakeland’s Joker Marchant Stadium Monday to take on Detroit Tigers.  Aaron Nola gave up one run in 6.0, 2-hit innings and the Phillies won 4-3.  They only managed 3 hits, but 8 walks and a Cedric Hunter 2-run home run paved the way to a   4-1 lead in the top of the seventh inning.  The bullpen managed to hold on for the win.

With the Phillies on the road, there was a larger than normal crowd at the Carpenter Complex.   Continue reading 2016 Spring Training, March 21st
