The Phillies went 4-3 on the road last week. They split in Chicago (when they could have gone 3-1) and won 2 of 3 from Milwaukee. They won both series openers.
The Phils begin another tough stretch with a 3-game series against the Cardinals at home before beginning a 7-game west coast trip that includes 4 games in Los Angeles and 3 games in San Diego.

Damon Jones (2-3, 1.58) pitched 5.2 innings giving up an unearned run on 5 hits and 2 walks. He struck out ten. Luis Ramirez (3.46) stranded 2 inherited runners pitching 2.1 scoreless innings. The first of the 2019 All Star squads has been announced. The Clearwater Threshers placed five members of their team on the Florida State League North team. Left-handed starter Damon Jones and left-handed reliever Jonathan Hennigan were named to the All Star pitching staff. Julian Garcia (3-3, 3.35) rebounded from a horrible last outing and tossed seven, one-run innings. He gave up 4 hits, walked none, and struck out five. He threw 89 pitches, 63 for strikes (70.8%). Clearwater (22-24) handed a victory to Daytona, 8-7 in ten innings.
Andrew Brown (6.89) pitched five innings and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits and a walk. He struck out four. Grant Dyer (0.81) pitched two scoreless innings. Then, Zach Warren (5.50) and Luis Cedeno (3.86) took over. Warren walked the first batter on 5 pitches. He walked the next batter on 6 pitches after starting off 0-2 and throwing 2 wild pitches during the at bat. He got two strike outs but wild pitched the runner on first into scoring position.
