Big night Saturday as the full-season affiliates won five of five games. Lehigh Valley trounced the BoSox Triple-A affiliate. Reading, that team that started the season 5-24, won both ends of a doubleheader and crept closer to .500 at 26-33. Jersey Shore shut down their opponent. And, Clearwater posted a road win. The FCL Phillies lost a morning game. Continue reading Phillies’ Affiliates’ Recap (7/10/2021)
This morning I was able to watch my first FCL game. Actually, my third game, but I was involved in scoring the games and wasn’t taking exclusive notice of the young Phillies. I would normally include a short FCL recap as part of the daily Affiliates’ Recap. But, since I saw this game in person; since it was the “first” game I personally could report; and since I have some free time this afternoon; I thought I would write a recap. There were some solid performances last night, but just one victory. Lehigh Valley got pummeled. Reading walked off with a win. Jersey Shore got crushed, again. And, Clearwater wasted a solid Abel start. The FCL Phillies also wasted some fine pitching in a loss. Continue reading Phillies’ Affiliates’ Recap (7/9/2021)

The full-season teams went 2-1 with a postponement. The rookie team lost yesterday and today. Lehigh Valley fell behind early and stayed behind. Reading and Jersy Shore benefitted from some real solid pitching in their wins. Clearwater’s game in Bradenton was postponed and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on July 8th. The FCL squad dropped a couple of one-run games. Continue reading Phillies’ Affiliates’ Recap (7/6/2021)

The affiliated teams won five of six games on Saturday. Lehigh Valley pulled off a sweep when they rallied in their suspended game and pitched a shutout in the nightcap. Reading no-hit their opposition. Jersey split a couple of low scoring games. And, Clearwater won a pitchers’ duel. In all, our pitchers held the opposition to 7 runs on 25 hits in 6 contests. Their combined line – 46.0 IP, 25 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 14 BB, 45 K, 2 HR, 1 HBP, 1 WP. They threw 666 pitches, 420 strikes for a 63.1% strike rate. That’s a little pedestrian, but the 666 and 420 just stood out.
If you subtract David Patterson’s line which actually happened Friday before the suspension, the line is even more impressive – 42.0 IP, 19 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 13 BB, 43 K, HBP, WP. Continue reading Phillies’ Affiliates’ Recap (7/3/2021)
