Looks like O’Hoppe should be in Reading soon. He’s really hot right now. Gutierrez could be promoted right behind him too. The draft starting on Sunday will cause some movement and probably some releases too.
I also think Ortiz will go with O’Hoppe when the time comes.
True, he needs to perform in AA soon.
Why “soon”? He’s 21. He’s arguably even ahead of pace at this point for a catcher.
I agree he should be promoted once it’s clear he’s dominating at the level, but O’Hoppe is perfectly age appropriate. So there’s no need to rush him.
Ortiz!
I have no idea what DD is going to do before the trade deadline but one area of depth for the Phillies farm system is catcher to do a deal..
O’Hoppe’s splits are tremendous (great progress each month) and if he hits like this for another 2-3 weeks, I could see him getting a promotion. A catcher who can really hit is one of the most rare assets in baseball and I hope they hold onto him as someone who could succeed Realmuto in 3 or 4 years.
I think he was helped tremendously by being sent to the alternate site (LHV) last summer.
Does anyone know what is happening with Seranthony Dominguez? Has he started throwing yet?
