  1. Really disappointed about losing Logan O’Hoppe. Hard worker, lots of potential, great kid.
Good luck on the left coast Logan.
Phils ship another Long Island product away as well. Good luck to you Ben Brown.

  2. Marchan and Sands 5 hits between them……now th trade deadline has passed, they must both glad they did not have to relocate to another city and club.
Still, it will come down to one of them who the Phillies will protect come November.

  3. Donnie Sands 2-4 and Rafael Marchan 3-3 with Pigs last night. Catchers are stepping up for loss of O’Hoppe.

  4. Last night in first pro game #7 2022 draft pick Caleb Ricketts went 4-6 with 2 RBIs for Clearwater. Another catcher stepping up. Maybe O’Hoppe won’t be missed.

      1. We started the year with Oduble, Moniak and Hasely, and they are all gone. So maybe we upgraded, even with Marsh.

      2. DD said, and I think it’s worth considering, that the Phillies’ developmental people saw some issues with Marsh that could be fixed. FWIW – Marsh was at least as highly regarded as a prospect as O’Hoppe and, the Phillies will get the fielding they need now with perhaps a lot more upside at the plate down the road. It could end up being a very good long-term move – or it could be a disaster. We just don’t know right now.

  5. I’ve always held Marchan in high regard. I might have been the only one that said we don’t need to re-up with JT for all that money when he would be just fine back there with another veteran.

He will never be an offensive force so he’ll never cost us or a team a ton of $$ but he will be offensively adequate, he’ll get you big hits and he’ll be an exceptional catch and throw guy.

Which reminds me of this 1 knee thing. Its gotta go with runners on base. How many more runners do you wanna see score from 3rd

  6. O’Hoppe getting traded but Sands and Marchan didn’t? That tells you what you need to know about how other teams are valuing those 2 players who didn’t get moved.

    1. Phillies probably valued Sands and Marchan higher than O’Hoppe. Also De Freitus, Ricketts and Perez in pipeline. JT is blocking pathway and Stubbs just turned 29.

      1. What’s more plausible?

        A. The Phillies offered Sands and Marchan before O’Hoppe and the other teams said no.

        B. The Phillies offered O’Hoppe first and said that we want “full value” for Sands or Marchan.

        1. “A” has to be the logical option……O’Hoppe was ranked by the three national rankings in the Phillies top prospects across the board…higher than either Marchan or Sands.

    1. HAHA my first game ever out in Lakewood and I think he hit 2 HRs in that game. I’m with my buddy thinking who is this guy we never talk about him on PP

  7. I wasn’t happy about trading Ben Brown for 2 months of David Robertson. That said, I’m wondering if Erik Miller was even available for trade or that the Cubs wanted Brown instead of Miller (which says a lot).

  8. Is there a reason Jhailyn Ortiz isn’t getting a promotion to Lehigh Valley? Seems like he’s due.

    1. Does it even matter at this point? Besides the fact that the last time he hit like crazy was when he was 18 in 2017, he’s blocked in the OF. Vierling is ahead of him for the 4th OF role. He wasn’t traded which gives you an idea of how other teams feel about his value. He needed to rake at Reading and he couldn’t do it. But since he’s still only 23, I think he’ll last another year on the 40 man.
