  1. Moniak is in a legit hit streak and it was good to see Vierling, Stott, Stewart, and Ortiz with good games. They could all be trade options.

    1. Yes indeed…Moniak 10 game hit streak…..15 for his last 41 PAs…..441 BA…smokin’

  2. Guthrie came out of a good Texas program. Has taken him awhile to shine. I think he has a shot at making MLB because he is a good defender at 2B, SS, and 3B. It might not be with the Phillies but he might just do it.

    1. This stretch is something Guthrie may have never accomplished in college from 2015-17, even in a similar SSS: .287 fr, / 305 so. /.273 jr.

I believe he played SS all three years and racked up several accolades in a tough conference.

      2017 SEC All-Defensive Team
2017 Golden Spikes Award Watch List
      2017 SEC Academic Honor Roll
2016 ABCA All-South Region Second Team
      2016 All-SEC Second Team
      2016 SEC All-Defensive Team
2015 Baseball America Second Team Freshman All-American
      2015 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American
      2015 SEC All-Freshman Team
2015 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll

    2. IIRC, prior to his injury there was some speculation that Guthrie could go in the late first or early second round. He was more highly considered than Nick Maton. He has been a disappointment during his minor league career, but something seems to have clicked. He is not a .350 hitter, but he had the potential in him to be a serviceable major league ballplayer.

    3. Agree with your comments, except for the Texas part – he’s from Sarasota via U of Florida. Had a great run in NCAA championships back in 2017. Great glove and range, though his arm was a little suspect following recovery from shoulder surgery. Not sure if he’s recovered enough to play MLB quality SS but reminds a bit of Torreyes in this UF video.

  3. Ortiz’s 12th HR was another moon shot as good as his previous HR was.

    1. He just needs to find a way to make consistent contact. If he can, he has a future.

  4. 2019, 3rd round pick Jamari Baylor getting out the gates fast with the FSL team.
Though still has some swing and miss, will be interesting to see how he will do over the next 100 PAs or so.
