  1. Trying to understand this….many managers and coaches get promotions up the rung to the different levels….why does Pat Borders still want to remain at Williamsport?
This will be his fourth year in June……that is a good thing to have….but i would think he would deserve a promotion eventually…unless that is his preference to remain as the Crosscutter’s manager as long as he wants

      1. Yeah I guess…..he can hang in CLW until mid-June than head up to PA for 2 1/2 months. He lives down the road off 4, just a bit from CLW, about 90 miles in Lake Wales, so I guess he is a snowbird of sorts…summer in PA

    1. I think Mitch reported it last year that Borders likes coaching Williamsport and working with the kids in Extended Spring. He still has a long way to go to match, but seems similar to Roly with the GCL teams

      1. Matt……might be a coincidence, but the Phillies catching prospects coming thru Williamsport these last few years are top notch defensively…so he really is a plus-plus teacher in that regards.

    2. Several weeks ago, he stopped in the Complex parking lot to speak to another Phillies’ employee. I and a friend were there also. The conversation swung to his going back to Williamsport again (it hadn’t been announced yet). It is definitely his choice. Didn’t go into the why.

      1. Jim, I emailed the site email address thinking that was yours that my son and I are coming to Clearwater next weekend.
Asked for permission to meet you as I’m a very diligent reader of this site and very fond of your work.
Don’t know if you ever saw my message.

        1. You don’t need to ask permission. I’m there every day. I do NOT look like Larry Anderson. I usually wear my trademark Threshers’ straw hat and carry a red back pack. If it’s windy or drizzling, I sometimes switch to a red Wawa cap. Look forward to meeting you.

  2. will be there 3/21-25. If you here of any B games at Spectrum field can you post that info. Always my favorite.

  3. Eugene- I will also be heading to Clearwater next weekend (3/1-3/4). Unfortunately, I am locked into that weekend every year so I don’t see much of the minor league workouts and games.

Trust me-Jim is very approachable and friendly. Just so you know if you want to meet him, you have to go to the Complex as opposed to Spectrum Field. He attends the workouts but not so much the actual major league Phillies ST games (unless that has changed).

I either feel like Jim’s agent or someone who is helping you meet the Wizard.

  4. I met Mitch Walding’s grandfather a couple weeks ago. He introduced himself to me after he heard me compliment Mitch on his third base play. Walding reported early and was taking ground balls with Bohm and two others at third base among the early reports.

I’ve had some nice conversations with Ethan Lindow’s grandparents the past two days.

I can’t wait for the Grapefruit League games to start so that I have the Complex back with the minor leaguers and their families.

    1. Living the dream Jimmy. I can’t wait to hear/read your reports on the games. How can you not be romantic about baseball ~Billy Beane

      1. Only thing I found was ScottF/LA @ 94 WIP for today..
Have to wait until tomorrow for the TV coverage@1PM vs the Pirates.
