The Phillies closed out the season with an 11-0 pasting of the hated New York Mets. They posted a 4-2 record over the final week with series wins over the equally hated Washington National and the Mets. The Phillies finished with a 66-96 record and a .407 PCT. They posted a 71-91 record in 2016, but showed promise after the All Star break this year when the went 37-38 after the infusion of several of their young prospects – Nick Williams, Jorge Alfaro, Rhys Hoskins, and J.P. 2017 Florida Instructs Update, 10/1/2017
Workouts continued this week at the Paul Owens Training Facility at the Carpenter Complex, the official name for the facility. Now you see why I and others always refer to it as the Carpenter Complex or just the Complex.
I was on hand on Wednesday and Thursday. The workouts were similar to those I wrote about on Tuesday. Variations included lateral movement and balls in the sun for the outfielders, bunt defense and the wheel play for PFPs, and rundowns and repetitive infield drills with some guys seeing time at different positions for the infielders.
