Lehigh Valley Weekly Report

Lehigh Valley has finally begin playing somewhat consistent baseball after their awful start, having won 5 of their last 7 games on this road trip, including three straight and now sit at 15-26,  still in last place of the Northern Division of the International League, 8.5 games behind division leading Rochester.  The ‘Pigs return home for four games with Charlotte starting tomorrow and then hit the road once again for a four game set against Gwinnett next week.

News and Notes: SP David Buchanan suffered a significant ankle injury on Sunday and will miss the next 6-8 weeks after being carted off the field in his third start for Lehigh Valley, after being sent down from Philadelphia.  Anthony Vasquez will be taking Buchanan’s place in the rotation.

–Phillippe Aumont has made three consecutive “quality starts” for the first time in his career.  His next start comes Saturday.

–Domonic Brown is starting to heat up, going 12 for his last 26.  He continues to hit with little to no power however.

–When Maikel Franco was called up, he was riding a ten game hitting streak, during which he was hitting .463 and had struck out only twice in his previous 45AB’s.

–RP Cesar Jiminez has been unscored upon is his last 12 games and has thrown 12.2 consecutive scoreless innings.

–A quarter of the Lehigh Valley roster turned over since last week between promotions, demotions and injuries.

‘Pigs Prospects: Colton Murray: Walks have killed Murray during the early going as the opposition has hit just under .200 against him, but he is allowing almost a walk an inning.  Over his last 8 games, Murray is 2-1 with a 6.48ERA and has walked 7 in 8.1IP.  This is after a solid start to the season during which he had a 2.77ERA in his first 10 games.

Adam Morgan: has allowed 9ER on 13 hits in 8 innings of work over his last two starts, leaving the positive vibes of the early going behind.  With an ERA approaching 5 and an inability to throw deep into the game, Morgan’s value has dropped considerably.  Opponents are hitting .307 against him, and .320 with RISP.

Seth Rosin has been pitching very well as of late, and has been unscored upon in 10 of his last 11 games, (1.38 ERA), earning 2 saves during that time period. On the year, Rosin is 1-1 with a 2.53ERA in 16 appearances. Opponents are hitting him at a .264 clip.
