Mark Leiter takes the 50th prospect slot in our poll. He received 39 of 157 votes (25%). Jesus Alastre finished second with 20 votes.
The final poll is listed below. It will be added to the Prospect Ranking menu option above by week’s end. I’ll also post some observations on the poll and share my Top 30 when I have time.

Well, not sure what to think about both Nunez and Arauz not making the Top 50. I’d like to think the system is that deep, but don’t really believe it. I guess my conclusion is, in a top 50 prospects poll, the last 20-30 names are pretty much a crapshoot / beauty pageant. Still, it was kinda fun to follow the poll and keep voting.

Agreed. Of Nunez, Brito, Arauz and Cumana, I’m sure by September we will wonder why at least one of them wasn’t ranked in the top 50 to begin the season.
Here’s hoping we have that problem – lots of young unproven guys having good seasons!

Agreed.
I don’t think David Whitehead or Mark Leiter are really prospects; more like organizational filler.
That said, its pretty fun that we’re debating the the tail end of the prospects.
I think we should have a full open discussion on whether Samuel Hiciano should have been 45th and Malquin Canelo 44th =)

Finally someone who also wonders why we have 50 prospects. Really. No other organization would want anyone listed past maybe 7/8. I agree with fritzerland that they are mostly fillers that will never see anything past AA.
