Looking to Add More Writers

We have been really excited about the content we have been able to provide you this year.  I cannot speak highly enough of the work Jim has done reporting on the Florida teams, and we are looking forward to Victor’s work going forward on Reading.  Also, look for more work from Chris King as we move into the summer.  We are not looking to add a ton more content to the site as we don’t want to drown out the work already occurring here.  We are looking to add some diversity to our coverage to fill in the gaps.

Lakewood & Williamsport Corespondents:

  • 1-2 Articles a week covering the team as a whole as well as highlighting individuals
  • The ability to contribute long form articles about the organization as well as minor league baseball or the draft
  • Must be able to attend games on a semi-regular basis
  • Should have a good feel for the Phillies organization
  • You may approach this from the perspective of a fan, reporter, statistician, or a scout
  • Should be able to proofread and edit ones own work

This is a unpaid position (sorry, but you will at least be earning more than Greg and I).  We do not need full resumes, but please email your applications to both Greg (phuturephillies1(at)yahoo(dot)com) and me (mattwinkelman136(at)gmail(dot)come) with your background with the Phillies organization and what you can provide to this site.  We are looking for people who are passionate about baseball and can communicate that to others.

Additionally, if you feel that you can provide the time to not only contribute a couple of articles a week, but would be interesting in maintaining parts of the website (profiles, rosters, etc.) include that in your application.

Guest Writers

We do not have the bandwidth to take on as many writers as we would like, but many of you provide first hand accounts and analysis that go beyond the comments sections.  If you feel that you have an article that is of the quality you expect from this site we would like to run it.  Email your guest pieces to me and we will work to fit it in among our regular contributors.  You will be given full credit for your work and we will promote it as if it came from one of our writers.

Thank you all for your support as we have become this transition of adding more voices to the site.  As always if you have questions or comments our emails and twitter handles are under the Writers tab at the top of the page, feel free to reach out to us.

  1. Unfortunately, I’m not located someplace where I can easily make it to Lakewood or Williamsport games, but I just wanted to reiterate that I’m really happy that you and Greg and the rest of the contributors are doing this. I realize what a huge time commitment it is, and I for one am really grateful for all your hard, unpaid work.

  2. Matt…perhaps a monthly Q & A on prospects like Callis does on his national pub.
But with each of the beat writers from the Williamsport Sun-Gazette who covers the Crosscutters, and the beat writer, Chris Rotolo, who covers the Blue Caws for the Asbury Park Press.
    Just a thought.

    1. Hey aren’t you still HS Mitch right now???? Come back when you are Cutters Mitch. 🙂
