Phils Add Cesar Carillo

The Phils claimed 26 year old RHP Cesar Carillo out of the Padres organization off of waivers yesterday and added him to their 40 man roster. The 26 year old was a 1st round pick by the Padres in the 2005 draft out of the University of Miami.  Once very highly touted (Padres #1 prospect in their system according to Scout.som in 2007), Carillo’s stock fell after Tommy John surgery in 2007 and has struggled to regain his form.  He was 5-14 this season with a 5.60 ERA for the Padres AAA club in Portland, to go along with a WHIP of 1.48 in just over 150 innings of work.
