  1. Donald having a really bad year. This lot is almost as bad as the corner IF. So, we don’t have a solid IF prospect in the whole system.

  2. Galvis is still a prospect. He’s two years younger than Dom Brown at the same level. He still has lots of time to develop and has nice upside.

  3. Pretty ugly right now. But it’s better than it looks on paper because Galvis and Donald are, I believe, a lot better than they’ve shown on paper this year. Give this a year to sort itself out.

  4. Not one infielder prospect in the system unless you want to strench and say galvis is one or garcia. so there are none.

  5. Harman is feast or famine; mostly famine. Donald is attracting interest from the Red Sox. They have been pretty good evaluators of talent in the last few years. If he’s worth something to someone else then he’s valuable to us. At minimum a trade chip.

I know AndyB will tell me to cool my jets but take a look in the DSL. There’s a SS named Jimenez that came out of nowhere. He’s batting .565 or so in 7 games. He’s a switch-hitter with some pop. The thing I really like about him is he’s error free on a team that averages 4 errors a game. This kid’s in his infancy but I will keep an eye on his stats.

  6. Nevri Jimenez is listed as a SS, but he has mostly played the OF. Carlos Valenzuela has mostly been the SS, with the usual 2B Laddy Berroa playing there while switching with Valenzueala . Jimenez played one game there.

  7. Speaking of prospects (and, yes, this is a little off-topic, my apologies in advance), interesting little spread by Salisbury in this morning’s Philly Inquirer. Salisbury indirectly ranked the prospects by how likely it was that they could be included in a trade. I think he listed them (going by memory here) in the categories of, in essence: untouchables (Drabek, Knapp and Brown), for the right price, you’d think about it, and let’s talk.

His placements were okay, as a rule, but Michael Taylor, who I think is somewhere between untouchable and for the right price, is down in the “you’d think about it,” BELOW the likes of Freddy Galvis, Zack Collier and Anthony Gose. Unless he has some specific insider information on this (I doubt he does, but it’s possible), I think this one placement is way out of whack. He says he’s behind Brown on the prospect chart, which I generally believe, in the organization’s eyes, is true, but, heck, it’s not like they’re both catchers. You accommodate both of these guys in the outfield and, as I said before, one of them or Mayberry, could probably also play first base. Finally, they suggest that Taylor, while a better hitter than Mayberry, is not as good of an all-around player as Mayberry. Has anyone seen both play and can comment? From reading about him, I did not get the sense that Taylor was materially behind Mayberry in the field, but I have barely seen Mayberry play and have never seen Taylor play.
