Baseball America got Costanzo’s thoughts on the deal. Clearly he’s disappointed, but he seems motivated by it. Best of luck Mike.

Best of luck to Costanzo….I hope he doesn’t turn out to be the next Ryne Sandberg and have this trade bit us on our backside…
Just a note….Ryne Sandberg was 1 for 32 when he was called up to the Phillies and was labled as a guy who will never make it….He was later a throw in on the Bowa for Ivan DeJesus trade in 1983 with the Cubs…..we all know the rest of the story

Best of luck in Houston …Mike
Here is a snapshot of possible replacements for Costanzo.
Brennan King- 2007…277BA…10HR…59RBI…465AB…8ERRORS
Brad Harman -(2005-2006-combined 69 errors at Shortstop)…moved to 2nd base in 2007.
2007…281BA…13HR…62RBI…448AB…17ERRORS
Jason Donald-2007…Combined BA.304 at Lakewood & Clearwater…12HR…71RBI…490AB…Also Combined 27errors at Lakewood & Clearwater
Travi Mattair-2007…235BA…3HR…21RBI…6ERRORS in 59 Games
Can any of these prospects really play 3rd base????
I’ll take Costanzo K’s in exchange for his 27HR & 86 RBI 92Runs Scored…which correct me if I’m wrong led all Phillies Minor Leaguers….

Nothing like being overdrafted by your hometown team and then get traded off in an average trade at best. I’d be pissed off if I was him, not just disappointed. Baseball is a business, but this part of it sucks.

Well I grew up in Houston, and saw Mike here in Clearwater. Mixed emotions, but at least he’s still with a team I can cheer for.
