We’re coming down to the wire, and the vote for 28 was one of the closest, with Scott Mitchinson beating out Matt Spencer by 1 vote. Mitchinson is a guy who has always put up good numbers when on the field, but has rarely been on the field. So while his data set is fairly good, it’s fairly limited, which has to be taken into account. If he were to remain healthy, it would be interesting to see what he could do. So, two more slots left, and a lot of deserving guys left.

01. Carrasco
02. Cardenas
03. Savery
04. Costanzo
05. Outman
06. Carpenter
07. Marson
08. Donald
09. Drabek
10. Happ
11. Harman
12. Golson
13. Jaramillo
14. E Garcia
15. Brown
16. Bastardo
17. Bisenius
18. Berry
19. Myers
20. d’Arnaud
21. Naylor
22. Galvis
23. Correa
24. Mattair
25. Bolt
26. Diekman
27. Sampson
28. Mitchinson

And here’s a reminder for the eligibilty

For the purpose of this poll, consider “eligibility” to be less than 50 AB/25 games for a position player, and less than 25 IP/20 games as a pitcher.

So, here is where a few other guys stand

Mathieson: 37 IP. Not eligible
Zagurski: 25 G. Not eligible

  1. I know this is gonna end up with me wasting my vote on someone that will not make the last two spots, but I’m gonna go with catcher, Jesus Sanchez. Keep in mind that he was the guy the Phillies were highest on in the Abreu trade. Matt Smith was a nice contribution, CJ Henry hasn’t done diddly-squat, and Monasterios is looking like he could go either way. Sanchez should be on his way to Lakewood this year, and make his slow ascent up the minor league system. Defensively, he is the best catcher in the organization, and if his offense can catch up a bit, we can add him to our other pieces at catcher (Ruiz, Jaramillo, Marson) to use as trade bait in the future. So, yes, Jesus Sanchez at #29.

  2. Carlos Monasterios, and Darren Byrd were tied for 6th in innings pitched in the Sally and Matt Spencer had strong second half in the NY-Penn. They should be in the top 30. Like Monasterios’ early numbers so far in the VWL. So I will give him my vote here.

  3. Good for Mitchinson. That being accomplished, I’m shifting my support back to the pride and joy of Evanston, Illinois: Dan Brauer.
