Box Score Recap – 4/27/2018

Cole Irvin tossed six shutout innings for Lehigh Valley on the way to a victory.

Reading was postponed, rain.

Clearwater amassed 17 hits but still lost to Dunedin.

Lakewood lost to Kannapolis in eleven innings.

Box Score Recap – 4/26/2018

There were only two games last night.

Clearwater blew an early lead, rallied to tie, but lost playing out the new tie-breaker. Lakewood won behind six, two-hit, shutout innings from Spencer Howard.

I spent the day watching parts of the three games at the Complex and the Threshers game in Dunedin as a night cap.  I arrived home tired.  So,here’s a condensed version of the Box Score Report.  This does not bode well for the start of the GCL season.

Lehigh Valley split a double header.  Mitch Walding had a big game in the win.

Reading beat Akron.  Three relievers held down the fort over the final six innings.

Clearwater beat Fort Myers.  Adam Haseley had 2 doubles and 3 RBI.

Lakewood swept Hagerstown.  Ramon Rosso and Will Stewart each pitched six solid innings.

Reading beat Akron, 8-4.  Harold Arauz won his second game. The offense hit 3 HR.

Clearwater beat Fort Myers 5-3.  Bailey Falter pitched very well.

Lakewood was drubbed by Hagerstown, 9-1.

Open Discussion: Week of April 22, 2018

Even after a 1-4 start, the Phillies are 14-7 and have a .667 winning percentage.  Where are all the fans who wanted to fire the manager, GM, and most of the front office now?

The Phillies have 13 wins in their last 16 games.  They are fresh off a 4-game sweep of a 12-6, Pittsburgh Pirates’ team that came to town with a 1.5 game lead in the NL Central Division and leaves town in third place 1.5 games out of first.  It was the Phillies third series sweep of the season.

Reading lost to New Hampshire, 4-2,  in spite of a good start by Ranger Suarez.

Clearwater lost at Tampa, 2-1, in Sixto Sanchez’ second start.

Lakewood completed a sweep of Delmarva, 2-1, behind Connor Brogdon.

Lehigh won in Durham.  Enyel De Los Santos was sharp picking up his first win.

Reading was held to 3 hits in a loss to New Hampshire.

Clearwater rallied to victory behind Mauricio Llovera’s arm and Darick Hall’s league leading 6th HR and a 17-hit attack..

Lakewood lost Delmarva on 2 unearned runs in the tenth inning.
