Around the System–Outfield

Second trip around….

Lehigh Valley

Danny Ortiz, Signed as a free agent in 2018; .219/.267/.368 in 217PA; 8HR 31RBI; 6%BB/24%K; .206 vs LHP; .225 vs RHP; .184 last month; 43 games in the OF with 1 error and 4 OF assits; Ortiz started very strong but his offense has been nearly non-existant for some time now.

Collin Cowgill, 32, Signed as a free agent in 2018; .208/.288/.354 in 164PA; 5HR 18RBI; 2SB; 9%BB/24%K; .283 vs LHP; .155 vs RHP; .225 last 30 days; 39 games in the OF with 1 error and 2 OF assists; Very limited success this year, almost soley against LHP.

Adron Chambers, 31, Signed as a free agent in 2018; Hitting .325 in 40 AB thus far; Just came off the suspended list and has provided some degree of life for a struggling LV offense

Roman Quinn, 25, Phils 2nd round pick in 2011; Hitting .289/.340/.444 in 90AB before landing on the DL once again for what has been another long term injury.

Reading

Jan Hernandez, 23, Phils 3rd round pick in 2013; .308/.345/.481 in 201PA; 7HR 33RBI; 5SB; 5%BB/29%K; .245 vs LHP; .331 vs RHP; .295 over last month; .337 on the road; 51 games in the OF with 4 errors (.960); 3 OF assists; Hernandez was nearly written off as a prospect but has re-emerged with force in the OF as a true bright spot thus far.  He has been very good with the bat, and the FirstEnergy factor is only marginally in play looking at his average away from home.

Cornelius Randolph, 21, Phils 1st round pick in 2015; .190/.271/.245 in 208AB; 1HR 12RBI; 1SB; 10%BB/25%K; .270 vs LHP; .170 vs RHP; .169 over the last month; .138 on the road; 46 games in the OF with 4 errors (.937); 5 OF assists; Simply abysmal.  This is when we remind ourselves that Randolph is “only 21” as many like to point out.  At whatever age, 4 years in as a minor leaguer, this line is a concern.

Jiandido Tromp, 24, SIgned as a free agent in 2011; .219/.331/.325 in 178PA; 2HR 14RBI; 3SB; 13%BB/25%K; .220 vs LHP; .218 vs RHP; .200 last month; 34 games in the OF with 4 errors (.937); 2 OF assists; The lone bright spot is a solid walk rate.

Cord Sandberg, 23, Phils 3rd round pick in 2013; .252/.282/.369 in 117PA; 3HR 9RBI; 1SB; 4%BB/20%K; .267 vs LHP; .250 vs RHP; .241 last month; 24 games in the OF without an error; 3 OF assits; Sandberg was receiving very little playing time until Coppola went on the DL.  SInce then, he has been serviceable.

Zach Coppola, 24, Phils 13th round pick in 2015; .194/.327/.202 in 163PA before landing on the DL about three weeks ago.

Clearwater

Adam Haseley, 22, Phils 1st round pick in 2017; .290/.331/.395 in 263PA; 3HR 33RBI; 7SB; 5%BB/16%K; .322 vs LHP; .272 vs RHP; .340 over last month; 59 games in the OF with 3 errors (.950); 3 OF assists; Haseley has really taken it up a notch over the last month, showing why he went where he did in the draft; He is on track to get some AB’s in Reading before the end of the season.

Mickey Moniak, 20, Phils 1st round pick in 2016; .244/.263/.307 in 214PA; 1HR 23RBI; 4SB; 2%BB/26%K; .267 vs LHP, .231 vs RHP; .274 last 30 days; 52 games in the OF without an error; 1 OF assist. A good last month which has been recently interruped by illness, keeping Moniak out of the lineup for the last week.

Jose Pujols, 22, Signed as a free agent in 2012; .302/.353/.488 in 221PA: 9hr 31RBI; 6%BB/35%; .284 vs LHP; .315 vs RHP; .301 over last month; 52 games in the OF with 6 errors (.939); 5 OF assists; Something has apparantly clicked for Pujols this year who has been very good, albeit with some bumps in the road with the glove and a continued high K rate.

Lakewood

Josh Stephen, 20, Phils 11th round pick in 2016; .207/.255/.287 in 161PA; 3 HR 14RBI; 6%BB/20%K; .195 vs LHP; .211 vs RHP; .214 last 28 days; 47 games in the OF with 1 error; 1 OF assist; Negligible offensive production.
