Phillies Affiliates’ Recap (4/6/2022)

Lehigh Valley (2-0) spotted Columbus an unearned run in the first inning but shut the Clippers down over the next eight innings as the IronPigs won handily, 6-1. 

The home team surrendered a run on Ronald Torreyes’ fielding error after a one-out single, stolen base, and single.  Starting pitcher Michael Mariot (0.00) escaped the inning without further damage.  He allowed two more base runners over the next three innings and posted a solid line of – 4.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HBP. Phillies Affiliates’ Recap (4/5/2022)

The 2022 minor league season opened last night and Triple-A Lehigh Valley (1-0) posted a come-from-behind, 7-3 victory over the Columbus Clippers.  The IronPigs fell behind 3-0 in the fifth inning but came roaring back with a 7-run eighth inning.  Theirs was the only affiliated game in the organization as Reading, Jersey Shore, and Clearwater open their seasons this Friday. Open Discussion: Week of April 3, 2022

This is the courtesy thread for comments and discussion about the Phillies and other BASEBALL topics.


Several Phillies had “a day” today.  Nola looked sharp striking out 9 in 5.1 innings.  He allowed one hit, a second-inning home run by the 2020 first overall pick Spencer Torkelson.  It wasn’t your garden variety two-strike HR as the two battled to a 3-2 count and the HR came on the 11th pitch of the at bat.  It was great to Nola pitching like we know he can as he goes into an opening day start.
