2018 Draft Discussion: April 9th

The Phillies have the third overall selection in the first round.  They forfeited their second and third round picks when they signed free agents Carlos Santana and Jake Arrieta.

Their total bonus pool is only $8,858, 500.  Their total was reduced by over $2.25M of slot money with the two picks they lost. Continue reading 2018 Draft Discussion: April 9th

Open Discussion: Week of April 8, 2018

Heckuva party in south Philly Saturday night.  The Phillies 20 run outburst doubled their scoring in their first six games.  It was the kind of game can help resuscitate players’ batting slashes.

The Phillies are 3-5 and are starting a series against the Reds.

Your open discussion can go below.  I suggest holding off on draft prospect discussion for a day.  I will offer a separate discussion thread tomorrow or Tuesday to keep the draft stuff separate from the Phillies’ discussion.

Three teams opened their 2018 seasons last night.  All three lost.  Reading couldn’t recover from the hole Ranger Suarez dug.  Clearwater rallied to tie, but Felix Paulino threw away the lead.  Lakewood deserved better, but throwing errors sealed their fate.

Adam Haseley, Jose Pujols, and Nick Maton provided opening day home runs. Cornelius Randolph, Jake Scheiner, and Maton had 2-hit games.

Open Discussion: Week of April 1, 2018

Welcome to my last article at Phuture Phillies.  Three games into the Phillies’ season and I find that I’m not prepared to suffer through the mob mentality and waves of negativity prevalent among the vocal minority of Phillies’ fans.  I can’t endure this for another 159 games.
