Box Score Recap – 5/13/2017

Not much action as three of our four affiliates had their games rained out.  A rain out was a possibility in Clearwater, but rain entered and left the area in time for a delayed start.  A postponement might have been better since starter Seranthony Dominguez left in the fifth inning with a reported arm injury.

Threshers’ starting pitcher Seranthony Dominguez exited in the fifth inning after a pitch to Yankees’ DH, Tito Polo.  He left with what was initially reported as a neck injury.  Later it was updated to an arm injury.

Dominguez lasted 4.2 IP and gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks.  He gave up a HR and struck out seven.  When he left the game, Dominguez had thrown 77 pitches, 49 for strikes.

Luke Leftwich (4.87) allowed 3 hits in 1.1 innings, but kept the Yankees off the board.  Edgar Garcia followed with a 3-hit, 1-run inning, blowing the save opportunity.  Jeff Singer (1.45) earned his ninth save with two scoreless innings.

Dominguez and Singer were both charged with errors on pick off attempts.  Wilson Garcia was manning first base.

Zach Coppola (.315), Cornelius Randolph, Garcia (.282), and Herlis Rodriguez (.297) had 2 hits each.  Garcia hit his second HR.  He and Randolph had 2 RBI each.

Garcia’s 2-run HR in the second inning put the Threshers in front, 2-1.  Randolph’s 2-run single in the fifth inning put the Threshers back in front, 4-3.  Coppola’s RBI single in the seventh inning broke a 4-4 tie.  The Threshers tacked on an insurance run on Rodriguez’ RBI single in the eighth inning.

Three Threshers were picked off first base during the game.

    1. Strange how this writer doesn’t think Mickey Moniak can grow to 6′ 190lbs. The kid is only 19 and there’s a lot of strength that gets built up in the coming years. I’m 6 foot and athletic and was about 165 at his age, 188 now at age 23. An elite athlete should have no problem pushing 190 and becoming something of a long ball threat.

  1. Sorry to here about Valinten and SD being hurt. Does anyone know about Grant Dyer ? Wonder who’s taking SD place Tarveras maybe.

    1. That home run today was I Believe the longest ever hit in that park? That was a left hand version of a dave kingman shot. Dead center and out of the park
