The Phillies have announced the following 16 players as non-roster invites to spring training this season – J.P. Crawford, Rhys Hoskins, Scott Kingery, Victor Arano, Logan Moore, Colton Murray, Chace Numata, Cameron Perkins, Brock Stassi, Andrew Pullin, Pedro Beato, Taylor Featherston, Dalier Hinojosa, Michael Mariot, Bryan Holaday, and Cesar Ramos.
They join recent the four FA signings who were extended an invitation to spring training when they signed – Sean Burnett, Pedro Florimon, Hector Gomez, Daniel Nava.
I’m not surprised by the inclusion of any the players listed above. In addition to these guys, I expect to see several catchers not listed above in camp. The pitching workload is too heavy for six catchers to handle.
Congrats to the 1st timers!
This will also include a slew of 40 man roster players that we will see in major league spring training. It will be fun to see Drew Anderson, Mark Appel, Elniery Garcia, Sev Gonzalez, Ricardo Pinto, Nick Pivetta, Edubray Ramos, Albert Tirado, Jorge Alfaro, Andrew Knapp, Jesmuel Valentine, Nick Williams, and Roman Quinn. That’s a lot of prospects of various degrees. Very interesting on catchers that were picked in Moore and Numata being added.
….and Dylan Cozens.
Oops!
Glad to see Cam Perkins given the opportunity. He is doing will in the Dominican League right now.
Before the some of the prospects are send back to their respective team, I hope the Phils play these guys togerther to see a glimpse of the future — in a split game as the probability.
1. Quinn (S) – CF
2. JPC (L) – SS
3. Kingery (R) – 2B
4. Hoskins (R) – 1B
5. Cozens (L) – RF
6. Alfaro (R) – C
7. Williams (L) – LF
8. Valentin (S) – 3B
(Squeeze Pullin or Knapp somewhere if there’s a DH)
With Anderson-Tirado-El Garcia throwing 2 innings each.
