Box Score Recap – 5/30/2014

Colton Murray‘s getting it done at Reading – one hit and three Ks over 2-1 scoreless today, and he stranded the runner he inherited. Gabriel Lino was 2-4 with a 2B and 2Ks, while Brian Pointer was 2-3 with a pair of 2B for CLR.

Willians Astudillo has now hit in 14 straight, but Delmarva’s Hunter Harvey shut down Lakewood pretty well. Again. He did the same a few weeks ago, though this time the Claws managed two hits instead of one and two walks instead of one and scored a whole run instead of, well, not. The Orioles should promote that guy already.

  1. That pitcher Harvey is a 2013 high school pitcher, if I am not wrong ,and his numbers are really good, looks like a really good pitching prospect, Twenty second pick in first round, him and Crawford look like really good picks so far,

  2. Can someone explain the line by Luis Carrasco in the VSL? In 2 2/3 innings, he gave up 3 hits and 4 runs. He had 4 BBs, 4 WPs and 3 Balks. How did he only give up 4 runs?

    1. That’s still only seven base runners. If he stranded two in the first inning and stranded one in the second, then only four of those base runners could have scored. He could have stranded even less per inning had he benefited from a GiDP in either the first or second innings. That line is ugly. Very ugly. BUt I don’t find it all that improbable that he only surrendered 4 runs

      1. My question was rhetorical but thanks for working it out for me. Now… can a pitcher be both the winner and loser in the same game? It could have happened to the Phillies against the Cubs in 1979 but the pitcher that was traded, in between the suspended game and when it was completed, never came in the pitch.

  3. Sorry if I missed it elsewhere, but did Perkins just get the night off after getting banged up on Thursday, or is it more serious?

Also, getting hit on the left side while on 3rd base – is he watching the girls in the stands? Could be the next Pat-the-Bat.

By the way, vowing never to look him up on Twitter again, else I will probably stop rooting for him.
