Hot or Not

A look at the week of June 21-27.  Quick thoughts….Franco is certainly making the #1 prospect in the organization a debate….and with Franco’s promotion, Harold Martinez gets hot for the first time in his career…Hoby Milners negative turn around is concerning. I think he may be injured with the lack of K’s and increased walk rate over the last couple of starts.

  1. I get a lot of pleasure from seeing Anthony Hewitt have some success. And improving to the point where he will probably have the ability to sign with some team as a minor league F/A, and continue his career, next year.

  2. Franco just hit another triple. Anyone see it? He seems to be running pretty fast for a slow guy.

I’m still frustratingly unsure about Altherr. He continues to get it done, but that K% and ridiculous babip aren’t really budging.

      1. I don’t get the obsession with that. It’s far from the most outrageously off base criticism of a prospect I’ve seen.

  3. Would be nice to see Larry G. Continue his recent successes. It is not an enjoyable situation to be in as a fan when you are already giving up on a recent 1st rounder.

Like many on this site, I have largely given up on following his daily stats. Perhaps a few more weeks of non-Larry G. baseball would change my opinion.

  4. Z Green with a BB and triple in 1st game of doubleheader. He has 12 hits since his season started and 11 of those are XBH! Before anyone throws out the SSS, you cannot say that’s not impressive.

    1. Dude.. it’s only 9 games.. and with those 11 XBH’s are 5 errors, so give it a rest..

    2. 11 xbh’s in 10 games is impressive and for such a stat that is not a SSS. How many players have a stretch of 5 games w/ 5+ xbh’s? Not many.

  5. It seems possible that the Phillies will have at least three prospects in the top 100 after the season (Franco, Biddle, Crawford), with a lot of legitimately intriguing guys further down the organizational list, like Quinn, Tocci, Altherr, Joseph, and a few lottery tickets like Cozens and Pujols. I know that fans always tend to overrate their own prospects, but it really seems like this is a system that is vastly improved over the last couple of years, with a fair number of guys with a 2014-2016 arrival date. Not to mention, we’re likely to harvest at least a couple of young bodies from the coming selloff. It’s going to be a rough couple years in Philly, but I see a lot to be excited about here.

    1. I agree. We need a better result out of the next batch of guys than the current endless string of bad bullpen arms though
