Pete Orr and Michael Martinez both went deep for the Pigs…somewhere Rube regrets his decision to hang onto Cesar Hernandez. Lesson learned, I’m sure. Quite an outing for Phillippe Aumont – 15 pitches, 14 strikes, struck out 4 of the 5 men he faced. And JC Ramirez got the save in that game. THE SECOND CLIFF LEE TRADE IS FINALLY PAYING OFF!
Jesse Biddle again reminding us that pitcher wins are a useless stat – 7IP, 1R, 4H, 3BB, 7K, 1 “Loss”. I’d give the loss to the Reading hitters, personally. They can share. So I guess Biddle still gets part of the loss. 1/9 of a loss.
And after being no-hit on Friday, the DSL club managed 2 hits on Saturday. An improvement of infinity %. So good for them.

pitching line looks good, but does anyone know whether Zambrano deserves some love?

Was hitting 88-89 on the gun, was mixing the breaking ball in very well. The control was pretty good, not great but was still locating his pitches most of the time. Even looked good getting off the mound and made a nice play in the 1st inning when a ball was lined back at him, it bounced off his glove but he stuck with it and still caught the ball in the air.

Biddle with another quality start.
Like to see Zambrano be ready to start Sunday, June 23rd vs Mets at CBP.

Biddle looking good. One a side note how much longer to we give Nix the boot?

Not saying I don’t agree with you because he’s been awful after a good first month or so, but who is a better option now than Nix?

No one really which is the sad part. Maybe Josh Fields? Or hell Zambrano would be a better pinch hitter when he gets called up.

Too true , and Zambrano is a switch hitter.

Zambrano would probably be the best option honestly. Ideally if you replace Nix you’d want it to be a left-hand bat with some pop sine that’s what Nix is (or was supposed to be). It’s funny … Amaro seems to have to problems giving two-year deals to PH/platoon guys (Gload, Nix and a two-year extension for Dobbs). Hopefully that will end.

AND TYSON GILLIES PINCH RAN FOR READING!!! ALL HAIL RAJ!!! GREATEST TRADE EVER!

wouldn’t that fall more on scouts than RAJ? or isn’t that sensational enough?

The buck stops with the GM. That trade was an unmitigated disaster. Gillies, for whatever excuse you want to use, simply cannot play. Aumont and Ramirez…well nothing else needs to be said here.

It’s Seattle. These were Gillick’s boys. I’m sure he blessed all of them. Injuries have derailed Gillies, he just lost too much time. Aumont has yet to harness his stuff and Ramierez was nothing more than a straight mid-90s FB with little command.

I don’t know about that. Gillick started working for the Phils in 06. Ramirez, Aumont and Gillies were all acquired by the Mariners sometime after 07. I doubt Gillick had any inside info on any of them.

The slop this guy got in that trade is amazing. and the bad job on this years roster, Gets a gm fired. In a organization that really wants to win, or is the brass blinded by this guy, he has brought us young, young, nix. revere, all slop. durbin, horst. valdes. more slop. granted the teams still cant hit, but a outfield who could hit in the clutch would have us in better shape,.then the slop he brought in this year.

Severino Gonzalez got a start today in a doubleheader for Clearwater. 4.1 IP, 1 ER, 5 K, 0 BB, 3 H. He’s definitely continuing to look good as a 20-year-old in High A. Anyone believe he might get a permanent spot in the rotation? Or is this a one-time thing because of the doubleheader?

he gave up a run? boooooo!!!

look forward to seeing video on him. Amazing lines but read that he has average velocity. Command and movement must be really good.

Saw Severino throw last week. I would compare his stuff to JRod, maybe a tick more on the fastball but probably sits 90-91. He has a very good breaking ball, looks like a curve. Believe he also throws a change and a second fastball, not sure if its a cutter or not, but seems to go fastball, curve, change mostly. Without another pitch, his upside looks Worley-esque stuff wise.

ty shame another j rod. thats not good,. right hander with 91 in minors, might be 88-89 on our gun, cross him off . thought this guy was legit, but now we know.

Come on, roccom. You were (a) wrong, (b) intemperate and (c) ignorant. Don’t be a bad loser, too.
In that same thread, you wrote, “He cant hit a fastball, sorry a good fastballs. cant get around on them. that is a big hole, and 5000 at bats can’t cure a lack of talent. if i am wrong i will kiss your ____ on broad street.”
Pucker up, my man.

Impressive but when teams get the ball in play it’s usually a hit. He’s given up 23 hits in 23 innings. He’s been moved back to Lalewood after having a problem in CLW earlier. Still he’s got a lot of control and Ks. He’s not a top 30 prospect but maybe he can teach some of the guys who give up so many walks, how to pound the zone.

GeneralDiscussion: Mets Demote Three After Loss. ‘TERRY COLLINS and Sandy Alderson have seen enough. One day after watching the New York Mets lose to Miami in 20 innings, they saw them fall in 10 to the worst team in the major leagues. So after yesterday’s 8-4 home defeat, the Mets demoted first baseman Ike Davis to Triple A Las Vegas. And outfielder Mike Baxter. And reliever Rob Carson.’
—Boy, I am glad Ruben and Charlie are not so impetuous in their judgements after losses.

Glad we hung onto Valle just long enough for him to have NO trade value whatsoever….

Wasn’t he rumored to be in the Wilton Lopez trade that didn’t go through? I’m pretty sure he’s been included in trade talks it’s just that his last season made it pretty clear he wasn’t a major league player without massive improvement. This season is worse.

Yes. I think its pretty clear the Phillies were trying to get rid of him, its just nothing ended up materializing.
