Roster Shuffling

With Wilson Valdez being called up to Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley was short an infielder, and called up 28 year old Melvin Dorta from Reading. Dorta has started slowly hitting just .176 thus far on the year, but is a career .269 hitter at the AAA level, spanning three seasons.  Filling Dorta’s role in Reading will be Keoni DeRenne.  Also, activated from the disabled list in Reading is Brian Stavisky, who takes over the roster spot of Quintin Berry as Berry recovers from his infection.

  1. Just looked over the rosters on milb.com and did not see any of this stuff. Suppose Bocock plays SS in the meantime and Dorta can switch with Luis Maza who has hit even less in AAA.
Lakewood has its player-coach recalled. Still Nothing on the 2 catchers, they were supposed to have recently signed or Ty Taubenheim , Josh Fogg , and some of the other off numbers in the pitching category.

  3. Can’t find Jason Knapp on any of Cleveland’s minor league rosters. Is he in extended spring training?

  4. Speaking of Cleveland’s minor leagues, Jason Donald is carrying a 1.003 OPS into today’s game for AAA Columbus.

  5. I was over at Carpenter Complex the other day and saw a guy in work out clothes with BOLT on his Phillies jersey. He looked very fit. Is that the air force guy? Anyone got the scoop?

  6. Karl Bolt – Air Force guy – interesting player. Glad to see he’s still around somewhere. Not easy being a Phillie and a military man at the same time, during what could be described as a war.
