A huge day for the site

Today is a big day for the site here. I’ve added a new feature, thanks to a suggestion from a reader. If you check at the top of the site, you’ll see a link for “Top 30 Prospects“, and basically this is an updated version of my Top 30 prospects. Soxprospects.com is basically the gold standard for me, and was my inspiration for starting this site, and this is a feature they use, so I figured I’d use the same general idea. My plan is to update it once every 2 weeks or so until the end of the season. Its basically a gut feeling type update, and at the end of the season I’ll obviously put in more time and thought to my ordering of the Top 30, but I thought it would be fun to kind of think about the Top 30 as we progress. Feel free to share your comments on the rankings, or point out a guy I might have missed, or a guy that shouldn’t be there.

But the real reason that today is a huge day for the site is this;

Starting this site in December 2006, never in my wildest dreams could I imagine this place getting 1 million hits. I just want to thank all of my contributors who help make this site go, and especially all of you readers who send in information, feedback, and very nice comments, as well as posting comments here. This site would be much less informative if it was just me rambling on. So, a big thank you again to all of you, and here’s to hoping for more positive discussion on our way to 2 million hits.

  1. Congrats. I’ve been a visitor for a while and really enjoy the content and comments. Keep it up!

PS – another great outing from Robert Roth on Saturday. Not a ton of Ks, but has a 0.74 WHIP.

  2. Hmmm. The 1,000,000 visit occurred while James was away. Does that mean that Gregg is the closer?

  3. Congratulations. This has become a great site for Phillies info and discussion. You really do a thorough personal job of pulling the info together and providing it and your well reasoned opinions in a clear and pleasantly provocative way.

  5. Your hits should continue grow as we follow the improved play of the prospects like Travis D’Arnaud who now leads the NY-Penn league in hitting at .375 after hitting his first home run of the season yesterday at pitcher friendly Bowman field. Amazing for one organization to have All Star catchers at AAA, AA, low A and it looks like the SS NY-Penn league maybe the rookie GCL. Walrond at AAA gave credit to Jaramillo for the game he called yesterday in his 17 K performance. He said he shook JJ off only one time in the complete game shut out.

  6. Congrats on hitting a million. I remember seeing a posting, quite a while ago, on the Philly.com discussion board. It said something like, if you want to learn more about the Phillies prospects, go to this website. I was immediately hooked.

I shouldn’t talk about prospects because I’m the “kiss of death” for them. I mentioned Haislet a week or so ago. I was saying that he was a very hot hitter. Suddenly, I look at his stats and he can’t buy a hit. He’s had two 5 strikeout games in the last 10 games. That isn’t something you’ll see too often… even from Ryan Howard.

  7. Great list. I sent you an email not sure if you got it PP about Heitor Correa and whats going on with him. Where is he on this list?

  8. It DOES NOT mean that I am the closer just that I clicked on Phuture Phillies 10,323 times while James was away to make sure it occurred on my watch.

Seriously, keep up the great work James!

  9. I was planning to ask you the same thing when you got back, James. Hopefully it’s a minor injury or they were planning to limit his innings, but it becomes more worrying each day.

And congrats on all the traffic. Love the new feature and think you’re doing a great job.

  10. Congratulations on a million hits. Well deserved. And as you point out, the regular posters deserve kudos as well. Some day this blog will become so big we will all long for the golden days. But we won’t leave no matter what, unless you sell out, LOL!

Pat Burrell is currently in 3rd place. Vote, people, vote!

Rickey Branch: “Walrond at AAA gave credit to Jaramillo for the game he called yesterday in his 17 K performance. He said he shook JJ off only one time in the complete game shut out.”

    Great point!

  11. Congrats on a million…. at least 20 of those were me.

What a random day to get so many hits? I got the impression your biggest were always around draft day. Anyone got any theories?

one thing I noticed, you format may not be great for users with a low resolution or large text… the topics shift if resolution or text is to large to view…. just a thought
